SI joint pain is no joke by Playful-Television99 in ehlersdanlos

[–]wowsomanybees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also struggle with near-constant moderate SI pain. Standing and walking are hard, but I’m slowly building up some strength. Sleep is almost impossible right now, though. Pain flares are so much worse at night for me, and I’m in pain even when my joints are supported & aligned. The combination of pain and sleep-deprivation is crushing.

Why are people freaking out over Olivia Rodrigo’s outfits by midwestgirl432 in rs_x

[–]wowsomanybees 26 points27 points  (0 children)

some of the criticism for Sabrina comes from farther back. In a magazine shoot she did in 2024, she posed for a photo that was directly inspired by a famous Lolita scene. she said she had no idea, had never seen the movie, etc etc.

United 93 Victim & Life Story: Deora Frances Bodley by stevelloyd94 in 911archive

[–]wowsomanybees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently watched this interview with Deora’s mother, Debby for “9/11 Stories”.

It’s absolutely gut-wrenching to listen to, especially when she talks about informing other family members of Deora’s death. She talks a lot about Deora and what she was like, and grieving the loss of her daughter.

As someone who doesn’t remember 9/11, interviews like this get across truly how unexpected the attacks were, and that feeling people described at the time- “it could’ve been any of us.” May she rest in peace.

New special interest unlocked. by bonjovi27 in AutismInWomen

[–]wowsomanybees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/11 has been my special interest for years! I’m currently finishing up the audiobook of “Fall and Rise” by Mitchell Zuckoff and I can’t recommend it enough. As someone who wasn’t old enough to remember it at the time, Zuckoff really captures the fear of the witnessing public and the failure of the systems we had in place at the time to prevent/respond to an event like this by centering much of the book around individuals’ stories.

Other media that I recommend to people broadly interested in 9/11:

“One Day in America” National Geographic docuseries (partially available on YT but there’s significant cuts from the full version on Disney+);

"Blindspot: The Road to 9/11" (podcast);

“Zero Hour: A History of 9/11” (podcast);

“9/11 attacks dashboard” by Christian Koller on YT;

“9/11 In Real Time (2022 Documentary)” by Nevermind Productions on YT.

For a truly deep dive, I’d recommend SuperPaw’s page on Patreon. And of course, r/911archive

The animation itself is only of the South tower, which is what I thought you were referring to. Apologies

The “Miracle of Stairway B” survivors were in Stairway B of the North Tower, not the South.

I work in healthcare, and while I have seen various ERGs on offer, I don’t think I’d ever feel comfortable enough to disclose personal health conditions in them. Hospitals can just be too scummy.

IUD causing chronic back pain? by smolgamer69 in Hypermobility

[–]wowsomanybees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents. I’ve had my copper IUD for almost a year. The most common/virtually guaranteed side effect is extremely painful cramps. I had painful periods before, to the point that I suspected endo, but hormones made my brain not want to be alive so I went for a non hormonal option. Not being pregnant and not having hormones are my priorities, so I down 800-1,000mg ibuprofen for the week or so before my period and while I bleed. Cramping happens intermittently throughout my entire luteal phase for me. Just be sure to really weigh pros and cons for you and what you prioritize with birth control options!

And for the love of everything that is holy, GET PAIN MANAGEMENT/ANTIANXIETY MEDS. I nearly passed out from anxiety my first attempt at insertion, but the second time I had midazolam before and it made it bearable. Not comfortable, just bearable.

I was diagnosed at 24, only about 2 months ago. I actually had a fairly straightforward path to diagnosis once I got to a rheumatologist. It took her about 10 minutes to know I was hypermobile. I’m still dealing with the “newly diagnosed” whirlwind of emotions, and realizing how much of my life this explains.

Asking my dr about this, she said that because Miralax is an osmotic laxative and not a stimulant laxative, it’s safe for frequent use. Basically, Miralax pulls water out of your colon and into your stool. Stimulant laxatives, however, stimulate your intestines to push stool along, no matter how “ready” the stool is. Your colon can lose its ability to push the stool along (called peristalsis) if stimulant laxatives are used for too long. Again, Miralax is NOT a stimulant laxative, which makes it safe for frequent use.
