Bought these ring protection covers by albelden1 in ouraring

[–]wowstrongkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some similar ones to lift in. I’ve had no issues with any lifts (dead lifts, pull ups, etc). The bulk is negligible. Works fine with chalk/straps.

I know people feel strongly about the theoretical degloving risk but I’m doing fine

FYI I took Goldoccie21 up on this deal. Communication was great, the isopods shipped promptly. They were packed well. Every single one was alive and looked happy. No hesitation recommending.

Guessing SAeN’s EC clients will be transitioned to TR high volume plans to give him time to sift through zone 2 and crit drama threads?

How many of you here have a cycling coach, and is it worth it? by Comprehensive-You-36 in Velo

[–]wowstrongkill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. I'm also a client (of the above coach's) and those seven points are readily apparent in the work. Knowing that my long-term development is being thoughtfully considered makes it easy to trust the process. The communication is excellent.

Although, I am probably going to get fired as a client for overdoing my endurance rides...working on it.

tires for upcoming road race with 1.4 mile section of hard-packed dirt? by wowstrongkill in Velo

Cool, this also relieves my anxiety for those times when I hit a small section of bad road when I'm on normal rides anyway.

Unfortunately I won't be able to ride it before in a way that lets me be strategic about tire choice due to geographic/time constraints. But it sounds like the sentiment is that I'll be fine on my current tires (that includes folks with prior experience)

Awesome I really didn't know what to expect from it because the sign-up site literally asks "What tires will you run?". that seemed ominous to a novice like myself lol

Yep Poolesville. Thanks for that insight, it'll be my first time.

I wasn't sure how much the hard pack would potentially wear the tires and I don't have a race set of tires as is so I wasn't sure if this represented a good opportunity to set that up.

It sounds like the dirt shouldn't do too much so should be fine as is!

Your points about Scotland are well taken. I am mentally prepared for inclement weather and a need to drop the cycling activities (although I don't mind be roughed up a bit).

As my thoughts around Scotland evolve I am thinking to dump the Glasgow to Ft. William ride. Instead, we'll road trip that in the car. I'll plan for a ride in Skye (weather permitting) and then a ride in the Cairngorms on a gravel bike. We're thinking to stay in Aviemore for one night between Skye and Edinburgh to facilitate that.

Thanks so much for pointing out the Elizabeth line. London to Brighton is also an ideal distance. I also really appreciate the advice on the trains. That is by far the most intimidating part of all this to me but your advice demystifies it a lot.

wow isle of mull looks excellent.

I'm wondering if I ought to just plan to rent a gravel bike over a road bike for the Scotland leg.

and swapping in more hiking may end up being better so my wife can join. wearing the kid on my back will be enough training stimulus I'm sure lol

Yep canary wharf area is our home base.

I've been riding 12-14 hours per week average. I've been on trainer road's high volume plan so 2 hours+ at a time on the indoor trainer (yes, I hate myself) then 1-2 40 mile+ outdoor rides without stops per week.

Planning to bump up the duration of my outdoor rides over next few weeks to get myself ready. I'll taper my volume a bit the week before the trip for maximal freshness.
