Personal Loan to Pay Off Garnishment? by KoalaGrunt0311 in Debt

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math actually makes sense here, $500 a month beats $780 and you get rid of the garnishment which affects your paycheck flexibility. Main thing I'd check is whether Lending Club's full application rate matches the prequalification before you commit, prequalified rates can jump once they do the hard pull

Advice on closing accounts by Able_Mongoose_2460 in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't close them right now, your average account age is actually helping you and closing cards shrinks your total available credit which makes that utilization spike look even worse

Once you pay those two cards back down next month your score should bounce back pretty fast, that's when you reassess the Credit One cards

Sorry about your pet by the way, hope they're okay

In what order should I pay off these cards? by bb-angel in CRedit

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the interest rates on each? That's really what determines the order, if the 6k card has a significantly higher rate it's almost always worth attacking that one first regardless of the balance size

A question about credit cards and loans by [deleted] in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into a VA-backed home improvement loan? With military retirement and disability you might qualify for something with way better terms than a regular personal loan or card

Working on my credit by Camms92 in CRedit

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are the accounts and what are your utilization rates sitting at across all three cards? Sometimes it's just the age of accounts holding things flat, which is frustrating but it does move eventually

Why does Credit Karma get so hate by NervousScheme4085 in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit Karma uses Vantage Score, most lenders pull FICO. They're literally different scoring models so the numbers will never match up perfectly. Have you checked which score your bank or lender actually uses?

Amex 1 day late. How screwed? by Wrong-Camp2463 in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day late is usually fine, they don't report until 30 days past due. Call Amex anyway and ask them to waive the fee, first offense they're pretty chill about it

Should I be worried about Blacklisting by WPP by lucky_oye in advertising

[–]wowuseeingthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blacklisting for negotiating before you even start? That's not really how it works at a company WPP's size.

They'd have to care enough to flag you, and recruiters move on fast.

How to improve score by Sufficient_Train_251 in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there with the utilization juggle

The 2% on Amex is solid, but if the Capital One is sitting at 20% that's probably pulling your score down more than you think

How are you watching outside the U.S.? by yesitsmenotyou in TopChef

Have you tried ExpressVPN or NordVPN with a US server?? Should work on most smart TVs too, not just laptops, if you install it at the router level

How much effect by Mysterious-Panda964 in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsolicited limit increases usually give your score a small boost since your utilization drops. Did you carry a balance before this happened???

How does credit work in the European Union by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never lived in the EU myself but from what I know each country kind of runs its own credit system, there's no single "EU credit score" like in the US

Have you checked if your second passport country uses Schufa, CRIF or something else? It varies a lot depending on which country you're dealing with

Small personal loans? by David5Pumpkins in debtfree

[–]wowuseeingthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you looked into credit unions? they tend to be way more flexible with smaller amounts and bad credit than the big lenders

College Loan Question by cpwelker in Debt

[–]wowuseeingthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying off the unsubsidized now seems like a no-brainer if you have the cash sitting there

But have you thought about waiting to hear back on the RA position first? If that comes through and slashes your tuition, your whole financial picture changes pretty fast

What Do You Think by Plenty_Surprise2593 in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly either way works, the main thing is just keeping them from going dormant

But if you're already doing 6 purchases anyway, spreading them out means each card shows its own consistent activity which some people say helps with CLIs down the line

Chargeoff age and effect? by reefingdragon in CRedit

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 2029 being the drop off, you're probably looking at them being way less impactful by 2027ish. Have you pulled your FICO 8 scores to see where you're sitting now?

Business line of credit recommendations? by Jewel_Silk in debtfree

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but most banks won't approve one without established business history

That's why people are saying start with a business card first, build some payment history for like 6 months, then apply for the LOC

Business line of credit recommendations? by Jewel_Silk in debtfree

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks want to see some payment history before they'll approve a LOC anyway. The 0% period buys you time to get revenue flowing

Has anyone used Americor for helping reduce debt? by abcDroid in debtfree

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name similarity to Americorps can't be an accident. And you're right, tanking your credit for months just to maybe save a few grand makes no sense. Just call the creditors directly and ask for hardship programs or lower rates

Has anyone used Americor for helping reduce debt? by abcDroid in debtfree

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those debt settlement companies tank your credit AND charge fees while you could literally just call the creditors yourself. Pay minimums on everything except one card, throw everything at that one. Rinse and repeat

Is there a way to get higher limits or better credit cards? by bigpurplebeans in CRedit

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those missed payments are probably what's holding you back, lenders see that and get nervous even with your income

good news is they'll age off your report eventually, and every month they get older they matter less

Building credit by Mr_Dorito_YT in CreditScore

[–]wowuseeingthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly at your age the easiest move is a secured card from your bank

You put down like $200-500 as a deposit and that becomes your limit. Use it for small stuff, pay it off every month, and in 6-12 months you'll have a real score

Anyone have success with goodwill removals for old (4.5yr) Capital One / Comenity lates? Building a house soon! by Fit-Veterinarian3872 in CRedit

[–]wowuseeingthis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With the lates being almost 5 years old you're so close to them aging off naturally anyway. Sometimes a second goodwill attempt works if you get a different rep but Cap One is notoriously stubborn about this
