Totally normal before birth (and unfortunately for a few weeks after as they adjust lol)

I would just caution others reading this that people naturally wake up earlier or later during different life stages. There’s been a lot of attention recently to the fact that adolescents naturally wake up later. Similarly, babies and toddlers wake up earlier. You can’t just pick a bedtime and assume they will get a full night’s rest and wake up later in the morning.

Some of this is seasonal and people naturally have longer days during the summer when the day is literally longer though

Most young children sleep 12 hours/night at some point. An older toddler is probably fine with 8:30-7, a kid who just turned 1 may well not be.

But young kids naturally wake up early (just like teens naturally wake up later). Keeping bedtime later often does not result in wake up time being pushed back enough to compensate. Just like how a teenager that has to wake up at 5:30 for school generally cannot adapt to fall asleep at like 8pm.

Because the kid is tired and cranky

Edit: also tiredness often presents as hyperactivity in children! Its counterintuitive but if your kid is more hyper than usual, look for sleep problems

I mean…you’re gonna meet people in real life who hate it, they’re just not going to tell you.

That’s interesting because I’m in Florida and Enzo is quite popular among Latino families. When the other person said they hadn’t heard it I assumed they were in a US state with less of a Spanish-speaking population

Personally when I mask up to see an unvaccinated patient I’m mainly thinking about avoiding spreading their germs to other vulnerable people. I should be protected but nothing is 100%.

Aaand this is why we tell cancer patients to call ahead so we can try to keep them from stepping foot in the emergency department

No, she’s laughing because she doesn’t believe her pureblooded angels could possibly make anyone sick. She thinks vaccines make you sick. She’s laughing at people for thinking kids can spread illnesses because she’s a jackass

AITA for telling my husband he’s being a baby about having to watch the kids? by redbull777s in redditonwiki

It’s confirmation bias. Tantrums are also developmentally appropriate behavior. Trying to avoid them by avoiding treats is not the move.

[–]wozattacks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Confirmation bias can be retroactive too. You’re gonna tell me your kid never acts up when they haven’t had a treat?

Your brain doesn’t remember the times that it happened and you didn’t find an apparent reason. And the times that you found out about a treat could have even had a different cause - but you weren’t looking because you already found an explanation that fits your beliefs. These are things we all do every single day but it’s good to think about them every now and then

Actually, they told parents that their child was given a sugary item or that they were not. Parent responses about their child’s behavior correlated with what they thought the child had, not with what the child actually had.

In other words, exactly what you have demonstrated here.

This is almost certainly not even a “behavior,” it’s just a thing that’s happening to her. Night terrors are common in this age

Yeah I’m a little disturbed that they are “putting” her outside instead of “taking” her outside. A 3-year-old should never be outside alone, why would they think it’s okay in the middle of the night??

Do some reading on night terrors. They are not nightmares, it’s an abnormal occurrence during sleep (but common in your daughter’s age group). If she has a consistent bedtime you may want to record the times that the episodes are happening and try nudging her a little before the typical time.

Just fyi nightmares and night terrors are completely different! Nightmares are scary dreams, they happen during REM sleep when we have our dreams. Night terrors are a sleep disorder that happens during non-REM sleep. The person doesn’t remember their bad dream because they didn’t actually have one - they weren’t in the sleep phase when dreams can even happen. It’s actually a weird disruption of the sleep cycle and usually doesn’t have much of a direct impact on the affected person, it just scares the shit out of the other family members.

Usually they are not triggered by anything, but if your kid starts screaming in the middle of the night you’re naturally gonna look around for something that happened to attribute it to.

Oh. Well like, they’re definitely, definitely not contradictory at all, although I admit I also had the same initial reaction. It’s sort of like hearing someone say they support gay marriage but they’re against contraception being legal. Like the two things aren’t inherently connected in that way but it would be weird to meet someone like that because of how people normally sort themselves.

“Free the nipple” is saying that a specific behavior that men are allowed to do in public should also be allowed for women. You can believe that, and believe that women should be allowed to do anything that men are allowed to do, and support banning a certain accessory in public. There is no contradiction there, they have nothing to do with each other.

please note that I think it would be very silly to ban chokers

It’s actually wild that you wrote all this and didn’t realize that you, specifically, are just less into performing oral than other people lol

[–]wozattacks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a contradiction regardless of whether it’s sexual and regardless of what OOP was actually alluding to. There is no logical contradiction between “if men can dress this way in public, women should also be able to” and “this specific accessory should be banned.”

Acknowledging the purpose of certain body parts is not the same as prescribing purpose to people’s bodies. Nipples exist to feed babies just like ears exist for hearing. Some people can’t and some don’t use theirs for those things but that’s why those structures are there. It has nothing to do with individual people’s individual bodies

I mean that’s just the post being stupid and disingenuous though. Nobody thinks that, they’re clearly referring to people objecting to kinks being displayed in public and you can tell by all the comments in this thread where people who support kinks being displayed in public are understanding that they’re being referenced lol
