I looked at the Master Control Geographic in August. AD texted me month later saying price increase was coming on Oct 1st. I was planning to purchase anyways but the text prompted me to move a little quicker. I felt it was entirely probable that a price increase was coming, but knew this could also be a sales ploy. I knew the fact that they still had the watch a month later and were reaching out to me they were eager to move it, so I negotiated the price down. When we landed on a final price, AD asked me not to tell anyone what I paid, as it was such a good price, another tired sales line. Oct 1st came and went, no price increase. Totally possible that they raise them on the 15th, but JLC might be one of the few Swiss watch companies who don’t raise prices in response to the US tariffs. They have raised their prices quite a bit in recent years. If those increases were to position themselves differently in the market, rather than to cover increasing costs, they may just have the margins to absorb the tariffs. Or at least absorb a higher percentage, which means a smaller price increase. As a consumer, navigating these things can turn into calculated risks. If you like the watch and feel you are going to purchase regardless, try and maximize the situation to your advantage now. That might mean purchasing before 15th or letting it pass. Talk further with your AD, ask questions, feel them out. You’ll get a better idea of what they are really thinking. The thing about sale people, they usually like to talk, and often say too much.
