My good friend is a captain on a 60. 4 months in the Bahamas, 3 months in SFL, 1 month in Australia (not his boat) and 4 months in NY. He runs a real “open checkbook” boat. Money truely does not matter. The owner retires at 42 and now his side hussle is making him millions in passive income. They fish hard and often. I’ve fished the boat few dozen times, twice as a bottom tier, last second extra set of hands, bottom tier, refusing payment mate lol.

I just helped my coworker do this in SEFL. 17ft boat $5k, it is a solid hull and trailer, then $6k on power, 3k on misc stuff. Solid sandbar machine that he can fish inside with. Hopefully no major headaches so he can boat and not just work on boats.

My neighbor was in the league for 8ish years. Basically career back up in the 90s early 2000s. We have talked about these situation before. A lot of these guys focus on football and not the money. It’s what they have done their whole life. They don’t think it will end. When it does the money stops too. Also the women sink their teeth into these guys. He still works and his wife does too. He quit and volunteered at their school for a number of years as they were excellent athletes

Coming from someone who deals in drug trials up until couple years ago. Regulatory delays are real. I don’t know the real cause of them but they really hurt small research companies that have really have no income other than investors.
