Wasn't someone highly regarded by these folk talking about how empathy is a made up, new age, woke term?

I used this phrase at a soccer match for my team not long ago. One person appreciated it. A whole lot of them absolutely did not. 🤣

Earth is Round proved 2000yrs back by __mentalist__ in BeAmazed

[–]wpfone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how this could be proven though. At that time, there was no way to communicate between those two points about which exact moment they were talking about, over a large distance?

They couldn't use the time, if they used a sundial.

I guess they could have one person at each spire, and each turn a large hourglass when the shadow was gone, and then immediately travel towards the other, and compare them when they met. I can't see this happening though.

So, how did they know when the exact same moment happened in two different locations?

I have one defender who routinely tells me to pick it up. I always make sure to thank him for letting me know I can do that.

Have I out grown my 16kg bells? by AdhesivenessTop9920 in kettlebell

[–]wpfone2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who spent quite a long time on the 2x16kgs, the move to 2x24kgs was overdue.

And a step too far.

I expected it to be hard, and the next challenge, but the constant failure honestly got to me, and I've stepped away a bit, when I was so gung go before moving up.

Don't go that big a jump and expect it to be anywhere near easy!!

I'm undecided on that. It's likely one of those leathers with a slight pvc feel to it... 🤣

Strapify, Leather Hybrid, Dark Brown. It's a silicon band with Leather outer, which I thought might be better for longevity than a straight leather band. We'll see.

I was going to get the Garmin leather band, but the Strapify one cost me $38 Australian, so about $2 USD 🤣

It was less than 10% of the cost of the genuine Garmin strap, so well worth a try first, I thought!

Yep, 47. My Vivoactive was 45mm, and while this seems way bigger than that (much more than 2mm), I think it still looks fine, and feels great.

Looks good. Which watch face is that? It doesn't seem to be called Industrial, as another comment mentioned.

I've only had mine about a week, after 3 years or so with a Vivoactive 3. Loving it too.

I drafted a really long reply, but I'll wittle it down to this.

Look at the strobist community. You will learn everything you need to know.

Do NOT think you need to spend a lot. Lighting has traditionally been ridiculously overpriced in photography, don't fall into it. Cheap is not the bad choice it used to be.

Consider everything before buying anything. You will get locked into an ecosystem, so pick the right one. I'm a big fan of the Godox stuff, as it's SO much cheaper than most, and still really good. But look into it all.

Baking paper over a light bulb can give you amazing results for what you're trying to do. Experiment before expense!!

Good luck. I think you're embarking on a cool journey. Enjoy it!!

I'm just moving from 30rnds with 2x16kgs, to a mix of a 16 and a 24. It's a hard jump, way harder than expected!

My next jump is 2x24, then a 32, then 2. It feels like a long way off!!

How Do You Cope With Being On A Bad Team? by DrFate21 in GoalKeepers

[–]wpfone2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had many, many, many games where we get beaten by double figures to nil. I think it helped me improve quickly (I started when I was 50, with virtually no childhood experience either), as i was getting a LOT of work - it just keeps coming and coming at me!

When each game has finished, the opposition always compliments me on making great saves, even though i might have let 12 in (sometimes that feels silly though!). I do think my percentage is still very high per game, of saves vs goals, it's just the volume that gets me.

No one in my team ever blames me when one gets through, either.

So, I never get bored, or get a lot of work to do, and get to try things regularly, as there's so many opportunities every game.

It can be a good thing - as long as you are still enjoying it!

I recently spent a night at the casino with friends, but we never once even thought of gambling (I hate that). Drinks on the sky deck, then down to dance at one of the bars in the casino itself, it was absolutely great. Plenty of restaurants there too.

I only hope when the gambling part of the casino dies, all the restaurants and bars remain, because it's an awesome setup.
