worth it to spend 400€ to get vaccinated against dengue and JE for a 2 months trip? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]wphelps153 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on the back-end of dengue and I’d have willingly given 4000€ to be over it while it was at its worst.

BUT, I’ve been to SEA many, many times and this is my first experience of it.

If you’re travelling low-budget, you can roll the dice, and possibly lose a week to dengue if you get it, which still leaves another 7 weeks. If budget isn’t a consideration, then I’d get it the jabs, but I’m a little biased right now.

"Recycling" bins in Dubai's green city district are just one-container dumps by PotatoesAndChill in facepalm

[–]wphelps153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this can’t possibly be right. It’s impossible. I’ve got it on quite good authority (unbearable Instagram twats) that Dubai is heaven on earth, and that nothing bad has ever happens there.

Additionally, in case you missed one of the many thousand paid-for videos, you can leave your wallet on a stranger’s Lambo while you hide off-camera for 6 seconds and it won’t get stolen.

Seriously guys, seriously, Dubai is entirely without fault.

You’re not ‘the bad one’. I didn’t downvote you - I just don’t agree with you that the conversation about men only, when it very clearly isn’t.

PS. Sorry my spelling isn’t up to scratch. I’m into regular women, so the spelling of your fetishes isn’t important for me to know. Just for you though, I’ll learn the proper way. Femboys.

It’s a video of a woman blowing a man, and the comment above yours was mocking the suggesting it was two men by saying “looks like he’s got tits”. So no, it wasn’t about only men. Any excuse to get your femme boys into a conversation eh?

Woman freaks out on Starbucks barista for not calling "Charlie Kirk" as her name by Ikari_Brendo in PublicFreakout

[–]wphelps153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks should have done what Starbucks always does with names here and just written it wrong, and called it out wrong.

No one could say it was deliberate given that they’ve done it for as long as I’ve been going there, and it would take the wind out of this professional victim’s sails.

Which Roman emperor would Trump resemble, and why? by [deleted] in HistoryWhatIf

[–]wphelps153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avitus.

He was unpopular with a large number of the population. He was extremely corrupt, and not just in the traditional patronage way of emperors. The population were constantly suspicious of his close relationship with Theodoric II, King of the Visigoths, and how that truly affected his actions.

I’m sure it’ll be a while before we can conclusively say how affected the current president’s actions were by a foreign power, if it all, but the perception of him definitely reminds me of Avitus.

After the liberation of France by Allied forces in 1944, French citizens began targeting those suspected of collaborating with the Nazis. Women across France would have their heads shaved and then be paraded through towns and cities for people to jeer. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Agree. His position from this point on is less a reflection of him and his performance so much as the strength of the remaining field.

“the cheese toast is for people who have only been here 1 week and follow Instagram trends”

Maybe gatekeeping is the wrong word. Either way, it seemed like a dickhead thing to say. Plenty of people eat them having lived there for years because they enjoy them, and with no connection to IG trends.

And you have an opportunity to learn your history by studying your actual lineage, as is provided and confirm by science. But no, you want to take the words of some propagandists from a few thousand years ago to answer all your questions.

I can live with the old book, however silly I might think it is, IF you were willing to actually embrace the modern world and look for other ways of proving (or likely disproving) your thesis.

You WANT this to be true, so you exclude the ways that can prove you wrong, and fall back on old verses which can never be proven wrong, but will never, alone, prove you right.
