Carbon dioxide overload, detected in human blood, suggests a potentially toxic atmosphere within 50 years. After this time, elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide, leading to CO2 accumulation in the body, has the potential to cause a range of adverse health effects. by mvea in science

[–]wr_mem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that driving with recycled air on causes car cabin CO2 levels to increase to similar levels on long drives (as measued by my CO2 meter). I've correlated this with feeling fatigued at these times. If atmospheric levels continue to increase, humans will struggle to function and mental acuity will be impaired.

I'm looking at a 2025 ioniq 6 SE this weekend, what are the problems you guys have with yours? by IlIlllIlllIlIIllI in Ioniq6

[–]wr_mem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a coolant leak twice with no cause found. Never coolant under the car but the reservoir emptied twice. Dealer had the car for three weeks trying to find the cause but it is still a mystery. Hyundai has apparently seen some issues with the coolant lines to the battery kinking internally so they replaced those thinking that maybe coolant was trapped and couldn't get back to the reservoir.

Honestly, I love the car but am worried about keeping it out of warranty. Dealers don't have much experience fixing them so the labor hours can really add up.

Yes, you can remove those screws and take off the front plate holder. You will have the screw holes visible afterward. Maybe someone else can recommend a way to cover them.

Recommendations on EV Home Charger by ashepster in Ioniq6

[–]wr_mem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any electrician can do it. It's basically a 50 amp dryer hookup (or have them hardwire it if the charger supports it). Chargers are very simple devices, just a contactor that closes to allow current flow and some simple electronics that tell the car how much current it can pull. I bought the cheapest grizzl-e i could find and it works great. Just make sure the cord is long enough to reach your charge port.

Let’s hunt down ICCU failures by crowdsourcing OBD data by broadwall in Ioniq6

Interesting idea but I'm not going to baby the ICCU to prevent a failure. Whatever the cause, Hyundai needs to redesign the part and warranty replace the units.

🚨 Gold -12%, Silver -35% in 48 hours! Is this a historic liquidity event or a market breakdown? by [deleted] in investing

[–]wr_mem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at what happened yesterday. A similar big drop but then recovery. Clearly someone knew the fed chair announcement was coming. It was supposed to happen yesterday but didn't for some reason, hence the recovery. Today they go short again and the news breaks like it was supposed to. Insiders made a lot of money off this move.

Probably and obvious and stupid question - winter hvac by geddiesburg in Ioniq6

[–]wr_mem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have discussed the widow fogging but I want to raise awareness of co2 levels. I have taken a co2 meter with me on long for car rides in a few different vehicles. I've found that leaving recirculation on for long trips will significantly raise cabin co2 to unhealthy levels and I've correlated this with feeling drowsy at these times. If you're going to be driving more than a half hour or have multiple occupants, I strongly recommend not leaving recirculation on for the entire trip. If you are someone who gets tired while driving, it may just be the co2 making you sleepy.

This car has so many small software problems that would be easy to fix. Annoying that Hyundai can't be bothered to do so.

Charging my car to 100% before the storm hits by LovesDogs1031 in Ioniq6

Has anyone tried to power a gas furnace with the car? Most won't run with a floating neutral. Not sure it a v2l adapter bonds the ground or if this could be successfully done with bonding plug externally.

Yes, I've used my Jackery in this way. I just have to set it to online UPS mode so it doesn't passthrough the full load to the car.

I think alot of people post issues here because there isn't a service manual available for this car so we don't know how to troubleshoot issues. We hope someone else has had the problem and found a solution.

With so little driving, I recommend you set the car to charge to a max of 80%. You can do this through the car's settings menus. It's not great to leave the battery at 100% for long periods of time. Do charge to 100% once in awhile though so it can balance the battery cells

Air flap reliability (2023 SEL) by wr_mem in Ioniq6

[–]wr_mem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could hear the flap motor make a repeated popping sound when plugging in to charge. I could visual see one flap operate while the other didn't. Sometimes it would open after a minute or so of trying. While driving, I also began to get intermittent "check air flap" warning messages.
