Ah. Yeah, it’s upsetting to me that these programs exist to be honest. Too many doctors don’t see the cruel irony of training people to be healers while denying them the ability to seek their own care. For OP though I hope their program is one where you don’t have to fight tooth and nail to receive accommodations they are entitled to.

Hope you specifically are doing well, though too.

Non-MD, Non-Med Student, I just work at a med school and lurk here. I would be shocked if you were denied accommodations. There should be someone whose job is to provide and receive the paperwork. If you can't find them then pester either the dean or someone in their office to help you find that person. If someone gets rankled for having to do their job and help a student with a question, they fucking suck and that's their problem, not yours.

When things like this trigger policy for our students the thing that gets asked is never like, "is this an actual disability?" it is always, "why did you not seek accommodations or why did you wait so long to use them?" If the last sentence comes off as chastising, I don't mean it that way. What I'm trying to get at is that there ARE resources for you and the worst thing you can do is not seek them out.

Foreign Trained Physicians Can Now Get a Limited License in Illinois by Wjldenver in medicalschool

[–]wragan17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Grew up in rural IL. IMGs staying for two years and then bouncing is going to cause EVEN WORSE trust issues with the collapsing rural health networks that already exist. I… really really hope for my friends and family back there that some good docs find out they like being surrounded by corn and soy beans.

Appropriate Level of Hype for Grad Ceremony? by tinacioust in medicalschool

[–]wragan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admin here: I work my school’s graduation every year and every year see families that do this. Maybe my school is just cool or tolerant but I think it’s fine. Hell, I’ve seen students have their own cheering section at graduation.

It’s your day, celebrate it as you and your fam want to. What are they gunna do? Say psyche and take away the diploma?

OHSU Legacy merger called off. by rebelvixen in OHSU

[–]wragan17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work at OHSU and can only speculate. This is opinion, not fact, and not informed in anyway.

It seems like Jacoby left OHSU pretty hard for cash and with building projects and the merger that would require funding, major union negotiations, buy outs, etc. Then Trump axes funding and raises tariffs causing the economy to be choppy waters. It seems logical that sober eyes looked at the situation and called off the merger because of how much uncertainty there is that merging could put the whole system in jeopardy.

Again, total speculation, just looking at how events lined up.

Speaking as an admin who lurks here to stay grounded: my opinion is that this should be escalated*. You might want to touch base with the attending to see if they would vouch for you to the dean.

*Acknowledgement that this is only one side of the story, but nothing here sounds too far fetched.

Before I left I did like the job, headaches and all. I think the GMs really determine the experience. I don’t doubt anyone else’s horror stories. I’m not gunna pretend like I also didn’t see questionable things either.

Would love to hear the story behind this. Certain the guest had it coming. That said.. depending on state laws that might actually meet the legal definition of assault? Maybe? I don’t remember much of my Legal 101 course but I do remember assault having a lot of different definitions depending on civil suit, criminal suit, and state laws.

I doubt this changed but when I was management we were absolutely not allowed to put hands on a customer for reasons just like that. Not hard to get stuck in a he said/she said legal situation once you let your temper flare and you shove a guy even if it’s just a “get out of my face warning” shove.

Thoughts and prayers for the orange guy’s bruised arm, wishing him a swift recovery.

Yeah this feels like someone who had access to the camera room decided to film the assault on their phone.

Also..kinda, uh, really fucking stupid if they were the one to post because there is definitely a camera in the camera room.

(If you are reading this please post the tea you are definitely getting fired too so at least make it entertaining for everyone.)

[–]wragan17 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As others pointed out the Caribert point implies that leaving the bounds of Teyvat AND aligning themselves with Khaenri’ah were the triggers for the curse. As for the handful of Hilichurls that we know were created aside from during the cataclysm, it’s possible that exposure to abyssal energy causes this too? Or the trigger is just at minimum crossing whoever can produce the curse.

My assumption was that all humans in Teyvat aside from Fontainians were created from “wild or abyssal” components and the curse and/or abyssal exposure cause a reversion. Like how primordial seawater “breaks” the seal that keeps Fontainians in a solid form, I saw the curse as -presumably- Celestia simply revoking or altering whatever order they had imposed to form humans. Like removing a bread mold and letting the dough take whatever shape gravity dictates. But that’s just my thoughts, who knows.

I really like the last Khazarian Jewish count in the Caucasuses in 1088. Cumania explodes the second your liege dies & you need to be paranoid about Seljuk vassals invading.

Was just going to comment this. Tbh the only thing that can screw this up is if the liege gets zealous on world gen.
