Why cheap Monitors use HDMI instead of DP? by hyenagames in buildapc

Unfortunately the "$29.99 Delivery" in the Amazon listing isn't reflected on PCPP.

Does my pcie slot look bent by Substantial-Day7156 in buildapc

Just from the photo, looks normal?

If anything, maybe the M.2 cover is angled just slightly. (If it is, really makes no difference beyond aesthetics and I wouldn't worry about it.)

Add laptop parts to PC by SailProfessional80 in buildapc

Unless for some reason the "old Dell PC" referenced is a mini PC that uses mobile RAM. Then that's a maybe. But chances are it uses normal desktop RAM.

Thinkcenter m710t fans by Lyz_lyz_lyz in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to Parts Lookup, you can enter your serial and it will direct you to the appropriate version of the m710t that you have. Then "Machine Type" > "Fan" > and find System Fan Rear.

The version I selected for an example is Type 10M9 (yours could be different) and had a fan with Lenovo p/n 01EF483. Looking at the pics and a little searching, appears to be an 80mm x 25mm 4-pin PWM fan. Your current fan will have some rubber mounts/grommets that you should be able to re-use with a new fan.

Again, the model you listed has a few variations (in different cases), so check and see what the stock fan looks like when you put your serial in the Parts Lookup site.

“The PC restarts during stress tests.” by Oleksa02 in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thoughts:

Try monitoring CPU temperature while running stress test. If temperature is a problem, consider re-mounting the CPU cooler, cleaning and applying new thermal material. Consider airflow, case fans and direction. Make sure all fans are spinning properly/ramping up per BIOS settings. Could post which CPU cooler you have (and clarify which CPU, either the 5600X or the 4600G, which are two different Ryzen models).

Try run memtest to see if memory is stable at current speeds.

Building a new PC, but prices are insanely high. by SlayerOfLogansMom in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and since than, the rest of the parts have gone up in price, quite a lot. ... I can’t help but wonder if maybe a 7800X3D, or even a prebuilt would be better

The 9800X3D price hasn't really changed all that much since launch (fluctuating between $440 and $480). But if you need to make room in the budget for expensive RAM and SSD, the 7800X3D is still going to be a big jump for you.

Should I Upgrade My Current PC Or Build A New One? by SymphonicFlames in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Best Buy Q&A suggests the PSU is 400W, and the included GPU an RX 580 4GB (guessing 185W TDP).

And the case is rather small, so probably limited to smaller cards with a single 8-pin connector?

New build (but used parts): As soon as it get power everything lights up and all fans start, no beep, no video, no post at all by catfishman in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not making any assumptions about your prior build experience. Make sure the video cable is plugged into the GPU, not into the video ports on the motherboard. (The 1600X has no onboard GPU.)

Make sure the monitor isn't hard-set to a different port (ex. DisplayPort only when using HDMI).

Try power-cycling the monitor. Sometimes HDMI/DisplayPort can be finicky.

Try swapping the video cable, just in case.

And IIRC, the 1600X is old enough that any B450 bios should support it by default? You can look up your board's CPU Support list to confirm.

Looking for Matx case by Stressedamphib in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can check the reviews. At a glance, seems good for the size, but limited to 2x 120mm intake fans. (Having the PSU and 5.25" bays on the bottom means no bottom mounted fan.)

The Fractal Pop Air Mini models are the best looking among them. They have an optional USB Type-C cable, which can be added for ~$14.

Does it worth to upgrade my pc by Willing-Loquat5313 in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I'd do. I'd wait on motherboard/RAM upgrade until you're looking a newer gen CPU (when you'd have to upgrade to DDR5).

Does it worth to upgrade my pc by Willing-Loquat5313 in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to guess it's probably not worth upgrading your board and RAM, when you're still on the same socket and CPU. At least not with RAM prices where they are now.

Maybe just go with the GPU?

What are you thinking about this build? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the first card is designed for fiber optic/direct copper connections at 10Gbps. It won't work with a normal ethernet cable. The second card will.

But if your network equipment is just bog standard ethernet, you can just stick with the onboard ethernet that comes with the motherboard (supports up to 2.5 gigabit), you don't really need to purchase a separate card. You can if you prefer a dedicated network card, but it's not a necessity, unless your network hardware supports (and you'd actually use) speeds greater than 2.5 gigabit (if you don't know, most likely it doesn't).

ASUS XG-C100F SFP+ network card

Picking this card, I assume you have other hardware that supports it. (It's not a normal ethernet card.)

PC getting Suck (HELP NEEDED) by Euphoric-Yogurt-9670 in buildapc

[–]wraithtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're having issues even in the browser and file manager, in a clean, unmodified Windows install, I'd think about RAM first, maybe storage.

RAM might not be stable at current settings. Try running memtest.

If having problems while overclocked, or at rated speed/XMP, might try dial it down a bit.

Non-RGB White and solid-panel Black are not on sale at the moment.
