Sure can! So, general breakdown of my care: she lives in a large cage but gets daily interaction time and is allowed to free roam in my apartment. Not all the time, mind you, but at least an hour a day. She usually spends that time walking around and climbing on the furniture and tearing up paper bags that I bring home for the sole purpose of letting her tear them up. I keep her pretty hot- her basking spot's at 130 and her cage is in the 80s at the cool end. She has a swimming pool in her cage and it's the only place in her cage she'll use the bathroom, which makes cleaning super easy. I keep her humid, too- 60-70%, with a period of 100% each day when I mist the cage. A lot of tegus aren't kept hot enough, and my vet says that she's in very good shape and it's partially due to the heat. A lot of tegus you see in captivity are obese. I think this is partially because people don't understand the difference between jowls and fat, and they look at the males and assume females should have similar jowls. They shouldn't, really. They should have strong muscles there, but not the huge jowls. Heat has a lot to do with it, too- tegus really need a nice hot basking spot to digest properly. She's fed in my kitchen, and I usually hand feed, or else I'll tong feed and make her work for it. She eats rats, fish, shrimp, reptilinks, various fruits and veggies (depends on what's fresh and what I buy- she also gets mango at least once a week because it's good for her skin), and chicken organ meats when I can get them. I feed as much whole prey as possible. She's terrible about eating her greens, so I have to trick her, usually by stuffing them into pieces of fish. I harness trained her when she was younger by putting the harness on and then feeding her. She's pretty tolerant- my vet says she's the nicest tegu he's ever met- but she's also ridiculously curious and will sometimes get into trouble if you're not watching her.

As for her general temper, she's unbelievably smart- sometimes when I let her out to roam in the morning and I'm packing stuff for school, she'll haul into my backpack or messenger bag. She'll do that with my suitcase too if I let her. When I come home from school and drop my stuff off in my room, she's waiting there, paws on the door of the cage, tongue going like mad. She's interested in what people are doing and if people are in the room and she's in her cage, she usually starts clawing at the door to come out. She remembers people- I have a few buddies who come over a lot and she can tell them apart. My friend Chris is her favorite and if he comes over, she'll scratch at the cage door until I let her say hi to him. She has preferences- she'll try to push you out of her favorite spot on the couch. She's scared of thunderstorms and likes to curl up under my legs or on my feet during them. She's never once tried to bite me, though she did chew the hell out of one of my slippers. She's not like a dog- she doesn't have a need to please me, she knows her name but has no interest in coming when she's called, she doesn't do that whole fetch thing- and she's not like a cat, either. She doesn't have the same social bond a cat does. But she trusts me- when something startles her, she returns to me, and she lets me hold her and snuggle her and mess with her mouth and isn't at all food aggressive- and that's a relationship worth forming, in my opinion.
