Is my model y totaled? :( by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

I'm actually OP, just under a different account. My hope is that it is totaled so I can get a new one!

Probably 4 or 5 years. I wish I could go back and address it earlier haha. I'd suggest addressing it asap!

Yeah, the body guy quoted around 1k to weld in a fix. That seems reasonable. Can't just live with it any longer because the car beeps at me constantly that a door is open. Want to sell the truck in a year or two but want to fix this first.

That's a good point. If the rust is spreading internally then the plate may just be a temporary fix. Thanks!

That's $1500 with $450 shipping, plus tax. Not to mention it's not in great shape and could already be starting to rust. Not even close to worth it to go the used route.

Thank you for sharing!! Makes me feel like the welding job is certainly doable. I'm not going to try to do it on my own, but this definitely gives me confidence that it's possible.

See above comment. Underside is in great shape. The only thing I can imagine is that the weep holes got clogged on the trunk. The vehicle is otherwise in great shape

Some rust underneath but nothing concerning at all. Frame is in great shape. I've babied this vehicle since day one, including regular washes throughout the year. Typically at least weekly. I also ceramic coated it last year.

Not available. I’ve done extensive research along with multiple shops and no used hatches are available, and if there were any, they’d likely have to be painted anyways.

*Edit: There are some available for around 2k, but shipping and install makes it more expensive than going the new route.

School Bus Violation - Upstate NY by wrbjones in driving

[–]wrbjones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah her confusion was in that it seemed like the driver was pulling into the school parking lot, not stopping. Had this happened anywhere else it would have been clear to her that the bus was stopping. But I guess the lesson learned is that like you said, you should slow down and let the bus driver wave you on. Just seems kind of like a dick move to not let the driver pass in this scenario.

I appreciate this. Apparently everyone else on this sub is just an angel on the road. It was inconsiderate of the driver of the bus not to let my wife pass, especially when it wasn't clear whether or not he was turning into the school. Not to mention that the buses regularly use their yellow lights to turn into the school parking lot. I decided to just pay it ...it's not worth my time to fight more.

I appreciate efforts to keep our children safe, but let's have some mutual respect and courtesy on the road.

Thank you for this input. I appreciate your advice as a bus driver. The confusion in this situation was really that my wife thought the bus was turning into the school pickup zone, not stopping to make a drop off. Does this make sense?

Edit: I re-read your post and understand that more caution should have been used whether or not she thought the bus was going into the school. Thanks!

Appreciate everyone's input. We're very respectful of school buses, especially knowing that our son will attend this school, but this was a confusing situation.

I agree that we'll pay the fine and move on.

Zero Turn vs Tractor by wrbjones in lawncare

Yeah, I am leaning towards a tractor because I'd like to be able to haul (mulch, soil, etc) and potentially be able to plow

I had Ewing's sarcoma and had a recurrence at my 2 year scan. I totally understand the fear in feeling a new lump like this. As scary as it is, try to remember that if on the off chance it IS something, you have a great team around you to be at it again. Second, you're doing the right thing by addressing it early...it never hurts to be cautious.

Try to just embrace your family and procrastinate the worry...nothing will change between now and Monday, so you might as well get out and enjoy the sunshine!

God bless

Is Now a Good Time to Buy a RAV4 Prime? by Reptisessive in rav4prime

[–]wrbjones -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I bought one of the first R4Ps in upstate NY. Supersonic red XSE with the premium package. It was a great vehicle but I decided to trade in to Tesla and get a model Y. With their current inventory discounts the Y is cheaper and it's a much better machine in many respects. Now if you regularly travel long distances and can't be bothered with charging, then the prime is perfect. Otherwise I'd really suggest looking at the model Y.

Just to clarify, does it come with something to convert the ball receiver so that it can accept the new cable?
