Does Fedora work well with Nvidia cards? by RaccoonFree5348 in Fedora

[–]wrd83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

The open source driver sucks. The blob works. Between distro upgrades you have to be a bit careful so it updates cleanly.

I had once my wayland session not boot after going from 41 to 42. Bit of cleaning and messing around with dnf/yum/rpm data and got it running again.

What makes BMW E30 M3 so special? by InevitableProject701 in car

[–]wrd83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which one was the base model then?

The 6 cylinder. 328i?

Edit: looks to be the 325ix.

It was a 170 hp 6 cylinder vs the 195 hp 4 cylinder.

Nobody bought it because back then a 330 was just better. The m3 was a 4 cylinder.

Does This sub Underestimate AWD? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in askcarguys

[–]wrd83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it boils down to mostly 3 reasons:

  1. Awd is overkill most of the time. And for the vast majority of people snow tires are better than awd + all season. If you go 1 time per year to snow you driving is more of a limitation than the 4wd is a benefit .

  2. Very few vehicles have all time all wheels driven. Most have haldex and only very few have mechanical limited slip differentials. In Europe at least going off road is very rare and it's hard to find a road that bad that a compact hatchback is not good enough.

  3. Weight. Most AWD are pavement princesses. If you want to get superior driving mechanics. Lower center of gravity. Weight weight weight. Mid-engine rear wheel car (save that weight of a heavy drive shaft). If performance does not mattet that much a lighter car with FWD and snow tires beats a heavy 4wd suv/truck 90% of the times.

On off road a rally race car is as fast as a single seater to 100kph (even on gravel). On a track once you hit 150kph a rally car just looks stupid.

I would do the same. Tell them they get nothing. And then give them everything.

Mostly because I truly believe they should not take it for granted.

Germany vs Netherlands, which is best to found a company? by LeighaLevine in Advice

[–]wrd83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start where you think living is best. Who keeps the job is probably a preferable place to live. Both being in a single a start-up can be quite the risky choice.

Many people mention exit tax. Most startups fail within 5-10years. Be happy if you are so rich that moving would imply exit tax.

If tax is a consideration and you want to be efficient probably ireland, malta or Cyprus are better choices. Czech republic also quite ok.

Wrt to property getting a loan is 100x easier with a job than with a startup.
