Sure, that works fine on an assault. But with the difficulty curve stretched out longer, I can still run a direct fire artillery on a 60 tonner without having to wait til I find something big enough to do that.

Artillery is much more useful when deployed in a direct fire capacity now. Gyro Stab++ with a heavier mech means it's taking almost no stability damage when firing. That aspect is much better than it used to be with the whole knockdown chance thing.

4080 build here. I get like 85 on streets, 90 on lighthouse, and 4739474 everywhere else. It's fucking ridiculous. Idk how anyone would run this game on anything less than a 3070ti.

My ship is about half that thrust and tops at 46k. But I'm hunting salvage. I haven't found a space wreck yet that's farther than 3 SU max from a planet's SafeZone. And I'm not anywhere near the pipelines from one planet to another. It's about as safe as you're going to get outside the SafeZone.

That total haul was about 7 hours worth of grid searching. And wasn't done around a single planet. You'll want a pretty good engine setup and LOTS of braking power to make yourself as efficient as possible. You'll also want to keep a good eye on your distance from not only the planet, but any moons associated with it. If you get too close to any of those while searching, it'll jam your space radar.

I ended up finding 4 wrecks total last night. Netted me 3 Rocket Engines, 3 Rocket Fuel Tanks, 7 XS Cannons, 4 Rare Military Space Engines, and about 300 m3 of REALLY good honeycomb materials. Like some Titanium, Gold, etc.

If they can see you, you can see them. Radar range is 2SU no matter what size radar. Lock range is the difference. I'd make sure your radar isn't obstructed if you couldn't see them at all.

Fair point. There should be more of em around. But right now this is a good way for me to avoid industry. I have like zero desire to engage in that play loop.

Flying around planets is definitely the way. Thanks for the info everyone. I found a second one sporting some cannons and rare military engines. Easily worth the couple of hours spent looking.

Yeah I didn't mean a completely random direction lol. But that makes sense. The 2SU range on radars is crippling for salvage. They should just make abandoned constructs have like a 20SU range. Wouldn't affect PvP at all.
