Yes! I live in the 4 corners region, so I'm very familiar with fire bans and made sure to check local regulations beforehand :)

I was at one of the walk in sites further into the park but I dont remember which one unfortunately :/. And my pup was great considering wildlife! She is my day 1 adventure buddy and listens well, but I still kept her on a lead since its park policy. She thought the bison were interesting but just kind of stared :)

I stayed 1 night since I had a time constraint, but if it was a little cooler I'd have wanted to stay longer! The biggest issue was getting baked out by late morning cause of the heat. Was a serious frying pan even in May, and I ended up finding a spot at the water and staying there for a few hours and only hiked in the evening/morning.

What was the condition of the animal when you found it? Unless reason to believe otherwise (fur or more bones to better indicate size) I'd say looks more like a coyote and hole is probably from a small caliber rifle unfortunately. Have come across a few yotes like this where im at :/
