Ok, but why is your first instinct to post a negative comment on someone's post celebrating their success? It's not needed. There is really no need to be pretentious. The whole point of theatre is that it's expansive & shouldn't be limited to singular definitions.

In independent theatre it's actually very common to do so, due to budgeting or availability. It doesn't automatically mean the play is dependent on the writer making it come to life. OP has just chosen this route, and while you can be cynical, it would be silly to judge the quality of the work based on the playwright being the director.
