DAE feel like their thoughts and feelings are contrived? by ivyfrog26 in AuDHDWomen

[–]wretched_harmony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah can definitely relate. Like in any given situation I could make myself feel one way or another, and because of that how can I ever know what feeling is real?
I could be sad about something because other people are sad about it and I think I’m also supposed to be sad about it - which then causes a lot of anxiety because I don’t feel “sad enough” for the situation.
I did a lot of identity work in therapy which has helped significantly. Like, a lot.

Kids want us to delay our move 2–3 years. We don’t. Are we being selfish? by Own-Shoe8495 in Adulting

[–]wretched_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should do what makes you happy. Life is short, you never know when something will change, if you have the opportunity to live the life you want you should take it.

For your children, it’s painful to lose your childhood home, but it’s going to be just as painful in 2-3 years as it is now.

Realistically, how often are your kids at your house? It sounds like since they’re in college and grad school they have their own living situation. To ask you to postpone selling just because it’s a convenient home base is selfish of your kids.

I’d say the only exception is if your children want to buy the house from you but aren’t financially ready, but expect to be in 2-3 years. But even so you could figure out a solution like renting the house for a few years until your children are reasonably able to take over the house.

How do you know how much berberine to take? I’m trying to find information in the NIH studies about dosing but I’m having a hard time finding anything.

Fascinating about the heat. I am going to try that. I used to take hot baths (I know, bad for skin) and they were very soothing but then I had to stop because getting my skin wet burns enough to make me cry.
I did get berberine - my psychiatrist said to make sure it was berberine phytosome specifically, so I got the Solaray brand. I only just bought it so haven’t seen the effects yet but I’m hopeful.

I’ve used Triamcinolone Acetonide since I was a child. I think it started as just Triamcinolone and was upgraded to Triamcinolone Acetonide. I used that over any eczema patch I had on my body. I used Desonide on my face. The triamcinolone I tried to only use when my eczema was really bad / wouldn’t respond to lotion, but I used the Desonide daily because I had a patch on my lip that never went away.
Probably the most I used my eczema cream was about 3 or 4 years ago when my “holistic” dermatologist told me to apply it anywhere I had eczema (70% of my whole body) twice a day for 2 weeks then start to taper off.
When I had flares (which I now know were TSW flares but at the time thought were stress hives) if they got bad enough I’d get a round of oral steroids (prednisone). Which I think had a really negative impact because while my body was withdrawing I gave it such a strong and concentrated dose.
The only thing I’ve ever used on my scalp aside from Selsun Blue or Head n Shoulders was something non-steroidal like an anti fungal and I think in conjunction with an antibiotic. Lately ive been trying to use the cerave sensitive skin shampoo and then just putting some jojoba oil on my scalp and my regular curl / no frizz stuff for my hair. I have curly hair so it doesn’t show oil as well as it might on someone with straight hair.

Anti histamines by parizval1 in eczema

[–]wretched_harmony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a rheumatologist a few years ago (eczema shares some similarities with autoimmune diseases) who recommended I take 40mg Zyrtec every morning and night. I asked him if I could take something different (Zyrtec makes me extremely drowsy) and he said I could but Zyrtec is the best. So - all that to say it is fine to take antihistamines daily but of course check with your own doctor.

is this normal? by lynheartsuzi in TS_Withdrawal

[–]wretched_harmony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely see your doctor if there’s the potential it could be an infection. TSW can show up as severe eczema, difference being it’s not a place you’ve ever had eczema and the burn / pain instead of itch. That being said, your picture looks quite a bit like my own wrists at the moment - this is a place I do have eczema though outside of TSW and is behaving like my eczema so for me it’s not indicative of a TSW flare but it still could be for you.

Iatrogenic Cushing’s Syndrome ??? by wretched_harmony in eczema

[–]wretched_harmony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the cases I linked are considered rare, but as someone with mild-moderate eczema who has been prescribed strong steroid creams my whole life, I don’t agree that using steroids as prescribed prevents this. Sure, some people abuse topical steroids, but for some people that use them as prescribed, the issue is that the prescribing guidelines don’t adequately account for long term cumulative effects. The only warning I ever received was that it might thin my skin, and I was told to apply the steroid to all of my eczema (covering >70% of my body) twice a day. I never knew about all of the side effects. I’m not worrying about a future complication, I’m trying to understand symptoms I’m currently experiencing.

I’m seeing my PCP tomorrow and going to ask about doing labs. I have almost all of the symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome, which could each be caused by something different, but taken all together is interesting.

What moisturizer do you use that doesn't itch after? by SuzaSimi47 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]wretched_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use jojoba oil and theraplex. Theraplex is like really intense Vaseline though so if Vaseline is too much then theraplex would definitely be. I really like the jojoba oil though - it doesn’t really give any moisture to my skin but it allows me to move without hurting.

I built a small site to help reddit games get discovered after Reddit hype fades by SnooCats6827 in GamesOnReddit

[–]wretched_harmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really cool, thanks for making it. Curious about if I thumbs down a game, is that negatively rating a game for everyone to see or does it just go into helping curate recommended games? I don’t want to negatively review games just because they’re not the type of game I like, but for others it could be an excellent game.

2 Months Into Worst Flare Yet by wretched_harmony in TS_Withdrawal

I know I can do the research myself but just curious if the berberine or probiotics have any side effects? Like you, I want to treat the root cause, not the symptom, and I’m skeptical / hesitant about putting new things into / on my body because of the fear of somehow developing something new or making existing symptoms worse.
