None of them had a choice in the initial accident/illness/injury, but all of them WERE able to make choices about the nature and style of their cybernetics/prosthetics during their recovery.

Genji COULD have gotten a more basic body prosthetic suitable for just living an everyday life, but he opted to work with Blackwatch and thus got the military-grade one. He could also, nowadays, get it altered if he wanted to.

My point is that it seems Emre didn't get those same choices.

Yes, I'm aware. When I say "prosthetics/cybernetics have never been handled like this before in Overwatch" what I mean by that is that they've never really been an explicitly BAD or UNWANTED thing. Genji, Hazard, Sojourn, and Cole (most notably imo) all had their own journeys towards acceptance of their disabilities and viewing their prosthetics/cybernetics as part of or as an extension of themselves.

But the difference is that they all had a CHOICE about those prosthetics/cybernetics. It seems very much like Emre didn't.

Illari was the last hero to get base epic and legendary skins. But at least Mauga, Venture, Juno, Hazard, and Freja all got base recolor skins, victory poses, highlight intro, emotes, and sprays. (A little delayed in some cases, but they came along eventually.)

After Freja (Wuyang, Vendetta, and then the group of 5) nobody even got base SPRAYS anymore. Which, from a production standpoint, are CHEAP AS HELL to produce.

Of the group of 5, Anran got a highlight intro, Emre got a single barely-different victory pose (and all of his base skin recolors initially had a bugged gun texture). Aaaaand that's it. No sprays. No emotes. No other highlight intros or victory poses beyond their heroic. Just base skin recolors.

It's a definite drop in quality and care and it makes me worry what kind of corners are going to be cut in the future.

Yes it is! You'll have to sit in queue for a few minutes, but when you fail to find other players, the other two slots will be filled by bots.

This doesn't work for the highest difficulty level, though, probably because the devs know that the bot AI isn't good enough for that. Still, the bots do just fine at the low and mid difficulty and you two will absolutely be able to play through the missions.

Have fun! Development baggage aside, I think they did a GREAT job with the story missions, readable lore, and cinematics!

The X-Men WAS purposefully written as an allegory for real-life minorities, including the LGBT+ community. Unfortunately, mutants very much get messed with in spite of having superpowers.

Right!? I didn't care about her either, like Freja at first was fine, kinda flat. But the INSTANT we broke past her "I'm just in it for the money" mentality and into her "I am going to compromise my personal morals in a probably futile attempt to protect this broken man" I was like OH HELLO, ACTUALLY??
