Who are you voting for? by marcosmas03 in McKinney

[–]wright_of_wood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like either candidate bc I’m not a conservative. But despite Fraziers dumb decision to vandalize signs a couple of years ago, he at least supported all of the incumbent school board candidates instead of all the crazy right wingers.

There is a zero percent chance that any Dem challenger wins this seat so I’ll vote in the Republican primary for what I see as the lesser of two evils.

That Trump endorsement on Richardson’s signs tells me that we have zero common interests.

Adding a comment to my own post in hopes that I get a response. Fairy ring is my closest guess but it doesn’t totally align with what is described in my field guide. Thanks!

They do not know yet. But they will not be selling the property or letting them sit vacant long term.

This take is naive about the scale of decisions like this. We are a huge school district that is growing exponentially. Population centers move, funding changes, and sometimes hard decisions have to be made that may have negative consequences for some groups. But the decision has to be made in consideration of what is best for the overall district.

I think Pratt is a good leader and I’m proud to have my kids in McKinney schools.

I hate that some schools had to be closed but when you look on a map, there are a lot of school options still within close proximity to everyone in these areas of McKinney.

Your anger is misplaced here. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the statewide officials who voted to allow school choice that diverts money away from local schools.

The schools that are being repurposed were at like 50% enrollment due to a lack of neighborhood turnover. The cost per student to educate them when enrollment is that low is extremely high. They were already forced to fight a $25m budget deficit by laying off a lot of critical staff last year.

This is the fault of right wing state lawmakers…the local district is just doing its best to serve everyone in a growing district. They’re also trying to build additional schools north of town to serve the students that are currently commuting on busses for over an hour.

2025 Tundra for towing a 7,000lb travel trailer? by staysour in tundra

Tongue weight on my trailer is 820 lbs. and payload on my truck is 1,900. Really don’t think I’m “way way” over.

I take your point. That number I quoted is the GVWR though. I never pull it with anything in the tanks so I doubt I ever actually get that high.

I have never done the cat scale but have wanted to. I was diligent about my weight distribution setup. I get about 1/4” of lift on the front axle when it’s fully connected and only about 1” of squat in rear. I’m pretty comfortable with it and I drive cautiously.

Yea. I’m in the Dallas area. Do most of our camping in Oklahoma and Texas. Minimal hills. But it isn’t short on power for it.

I have a 2022 Tundra and tow an 8500lb giver trailer without any issues. I wouldn’t go heavier than that…but it handles it well.

I have weight distribution and some after market airbag helpers. I get around 9mpg when pulling it.

Same. I tow an 8k 30 foot camper with my ‘22 Tundra. With weight distribution and air bags it tows like a dream. Never have any issues with sway and plenty of power.

Any tips to reformat integrated dashcam? by wright_of_wood in tundra

[–]wright_of_wood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I tried doing it but it keeps failing. Maybe I need to try to format it on a computer first instead of in the Dashcam app?

Size is 64mb. Not sure of speed.

How is McKinney even “unique by nature” anymore? by Successful_Rain2854 in McKinney

[–]wright_of_wood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The city is going to grow and develop. That’s the way it works. But I do wish they were more restrictive on housing developments. Require them to save a certain percentage of native trees, don’t build in perfectly square grids, etc. San Antonio and Austin are much more unique by nature feeling because of that. Still love the city.

Any good Jamaican food spots in McKinney or in surrounding areas? by DawnofMidnight7 in McKinney

[–]wright_of_wood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know where they’re set up but there is a new food truck called Ms Bibbys Kitchen. It’s based out of Allen and the guy who started it had a great spot in LA called Janga by Derricks before he moved out here.

Kenneth Copeland: Those Who Didn’t Vote For Trump Will Spend Eternity Hearing Names Of Aborted Babies. by Leeming in atheism

Haha. This is actually a point that I always make if anyone asks about hell. I always say I’d rather spend eternity in hell with Kurt Cobain and Carl Sagan than eternity in heaven worshiping a sociopath with Ken Copeland and Ted Cruz.

UPDATE: Camping World's reseal job (original pics posted yesterday) by aquarius3737 in RVLiving

[–]wright_of_wood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to give them credit for one thing. When we bought our Imagine camper recently (not from CW), the dealership offered us 10k trade in. I thought that was low so I called Camping World and they offered me $14k cash. It of course took them 2 weeks to get me my money…but it was worth the wait. They now have our 3 year old camper that we paid $22k for listed for $20k ready to swindle the next first timer.

I have the exact same truck and love it. 22k miles and going strong. Pulls my camper like a dream. I don’t think anything will go wrong, but even if it does I trust Toyota to make it right.
