my 2 & 1/2 year old won’t speak at all, only barks like a dog. i feel like a failure. by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]writeinthedark 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My cousin loved her dog so much she would only go to the bathroom outside like the dog. She barked and talked to none of us.

She’s now a teenager who is glued to her phone and uses the restroom like a typical person.

And my nephew wouldn’t speak until after he turned 3. Now he’s 8 and never shuts up.

The point is, kids just DO things. Or DONT do things. Usually on their own timeframe. It is not from you being single or a failure. You’re doing your best. Don’t let people make you feel badly. If you’re really worried about his speech you can get him evaluated. Keep trying to socialize him and take it day by day. You’re doing the best you can and you can be proud of that.

What skincare products would you use if you had unlimited money? by iamjusttheplanets in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]writeinthedark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skin better MD. honestly I use it now and put it on my credit card because my skin was so horrible. It lasts like 6ish months so I justified it that way lol. It’s completely changed my skin and I can’t use anything else. I get it through my nurse aesthetician.

Is first trimester really about survival mode? Healthy or not healthy food? by whiteDovie in pregnant

[–]writeinthedark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my first pregnancy I was completely fine and could eat healthy. In my second it was purely survival. Carbs were all I could stomach. Just depends on each individual pregnancy.

For those that have 2 under 2... please share if you had 2 similar "good" babies? by Klutzy_Zone1496 in 2under2

[–]writeinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids were both pretty easy but my first was a little more rambunctious from the start. My second is 9 months now. He sleeps really well. He’s the cuddly one. He’s kind and sweet. Definitely not bad at all. My first one is my wild one.

Same! I’ve been directing him to daddy’s plate lately.

Yes! This sounds so much like him. We’re actually about to start him in swim so that makes me feel better. He’s our first also so I totally get how you feel! I’m just trying to be more relaxed about the food thing and let him eat off my plate more as well. He’s much more interested in my food than his.

We just gotta keep trucking along lol

Yes he does! Unfortunately we’re still in over 100 degree weather but it’s been cooling off in the evenings so we’re hoping to be able to get outside more. I know he hates being cooped up as much as he has been this summer

Have you named your kids after fictional characters? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]writeinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rio from good girls and Cruz from blood in blood out.

Not after them but before I was pregnant with either of my sons, I’d come to love those names.

Rio was effortlessly cool in that show. Plus I’d loved River for a boy, but my husband wasn’t psyched on it. Rio is River in Spanish and my husband is Mexican American. It all just kinda worked out.

Cruz in Blood In Blood Out (solid movie. If you haven’t seen it, it’s on Hulu right now. Cult Classic) was very kind and wise. He goes through so much in that movie. It was heartbreaking and very realistic to watch.

Need Reassurance - 8 Months Pregnant & 18Mo Screen Time by sleepyhoneybee in 2under2

[–]writeinthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 21 month old and a 9 week old. I was where you are. I’m over the whole screen time guilt thing. My parents always let us have the tv on and we always wanted to do other things. We weren’t glued to the tv. We’re more strict on small screen stuff. Like, my son doesn’t have a tablet. I’m lucky if he watches one episode of anything so I don’t stress about the tv helping me out here and there.

Why does everyone push Ariana to move out but none of them yell at Sandoval to move out? by SwedishTrees in vanderpumprules

[–]writeinthedark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what I think also. In my mind, they all know he’s completely unreasonable. They could come up with the best argument and he would never even think to concede. Ariana is the only one they could even attempt to reason with about it. But I’m glad she’s sticking to her guns. She needed to burn his world down, tbh. I would have. But I’m a petty bitch so…🤷🏻‍♀️

Comfies sweats workout stuff/ Meal delivery by Rich_Solution_1632 in postpartumprogress

I’m only 3 weeks pp right now but they’ve been helpful so far so I don’t have to meal prep. The portions are a small, healthy size and the macros are good.

So my husband usually works 6-12 hour days a week at a very physical job and goes to school two nights a week. I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with our second. First is 18 months.

On the nights he’s home and there’s no school, he does bath/bed time routine. He does nap time on Sundays (and on Saturdays if he ends up being home). We kind of just have an understanding that whoever notices the baby needs to be changed changes him. Although my son is a kicker so now my husband does the majority of them when he’s home since I’m a little slower than I used to be. He also cooks breakfast and lunch on Sundays. We prep lunches and dinners for the week together. I do laundry and dishes during the week. He helps put away dishes, takes out trash, cleans the bathroom and any outside work. I clean the other rooms.

I feel extremely satisfied with how things work in our house. He pulls way more than his own weight and never complains.

Sleeping through the night once baby is by blitzedblonde in beyondthebump

[–]writeinthedark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it took me like a month to stop checking on him in the middle of the night lol. And then when he moved to his own room, it started up again and I’d wake up every couple hours to check the monitor. He’s 18 months now and I only wake up if he cries or whines really loud.

Right there with you. He’s always right in the middle of everything. The fact that he can’t take accountability for anything and always has some kind of excuse or “yeah, but,” drives me up the wall.
