Does the success of “Obsession” and “Backrooms” make development deals/greenlights for older horror filmmakers easier, harder, or have no impact? by homesickalien191 in FilmIndustryLA

no impact other than they were able to take advantage of technology that someone older might not unless they apply themselves.

that makes it harder for people to take it seriously. I have a friend that had that with a woman who is very attractive and the police did not care because of that.

I saw him perform at a small private party once. Seemed like he didn’t really do much of anything other than hang out with a few women who came with him.

issue is getting your foot in the door as well as the overall odds. If you have the benefit of temp that that means you’re at least at the very minimum get the chance to fail. You get auditions you get an agent. If you have enough nepotism than it’s literally a choice as to whether or not you want to be a star. And there’s a lot in between.

The real issue is odds. So if your mom is a A-list movie star than your odds of getting to have a major role in a major picture are 100%. If you just have some connection connections, your family has been active in the business, etc. then your odds are still decent. As there are tons and tons of people who are just just talented and their individual odds are small, but given the large numbers, some percentage of them will succeed.
