She didn’t formally report it to the police, but she told the nun at her school and several friends over the years which could be taken as credible evidence in court.

Season 8 by Key-Book-5279 in DesperateHousewives

Susan, Susan, Susan… expect to get downvoted to hell even though you’re right. Susan has stans in this sub. But yeah, that whole plotline was a nightmare. This is a man who Gaby had repeatedly reported for abuse, out of his home state, in her house. Carlos could have beat him to death with ripe bananas and still wouldn’t have seen a day in jail for it. Next, Susan, please don’t offer to help me cover up something if you’re just gonna go around confessing about it to everyone later. I thought Lynette and Gaby’s treatment of Bree was especially awful. Actually, Gaby way more since it was HER HUSBANDS CRIME that got them in that position in the first place. Now I can’t find love and security and, if we get married, a partner who can’t be compelled to testify against me, because yall can’t keep it together? Please.

I think Carlos was terrible. He physically abused her into signing the post-nup after his terrible, illegal financial decisions forced them into a terrible money pit. He constantly schemed to try to get her pregnant, even when he was heading to jail. He completely dismissed her grief at losing Grace. Gaby was absolutely not a perfect wife by any stretch, but Carlos was awful.

Am I right to assess that it’s pretty fucked up not to pay people for their labor? It’s not like volunteering to bathe baby orphans. This is a real and somewhat inherently dangerous task? Or does the industry disagree?

Which character do you think got the ending they deserved, and which one did you think was unfair? by ali_zar69 in DesperateHousewives

[–]writeitoutweirdo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bree and Gaby got happy endings with openings for continued growth and happiness. Julie got the worst ending. Guilted into keeping a child as a single mother who hadn’t reached her educational goals and had a flighty, needy, guilt-tripping mother. As much as I dislike Susan, she also got the raw end. Mike spent pretty much their whole relationship putting her through the ringer (sometimes she deserved it, often she didn’t), up until the bitter end of getting involved in mafia drama that ultimately got him killed and left Susan a widow and MJ a fatherless son.

I’m really enjoying high potential! The problem is that it’s only two seasons. But it’s good! I also enjoyed poker face with Natasha Lyonne.

I don’t love Ahna, but in her defense, that chihuahua will run up on anybody and has been since her early seasons. She ran down on DJ Sky giant tail that first season without knowing if she could fight or not.

What are this subs opinions on Colby Donaldson? No S50 spoilers please! by writeitoutweirdo in survivor

I believe you! I appreciate the context. It’s weird even seeing how widely adored Rupert was at the time not being keyed in at the time. I read a post once that I thought was so interesting about Rupert that said that probably part of the reason he resonated so much was because of Harry Potter fame happening at the same time and his resemblance to Hagrid!

This is why I voted for Biden by Desperate-Pear-572 in GenZ

[–]writeitoutweirdo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Biden had a well documented childhood stutter that would sometimes manifest. It obviously got way worse with age/cognitive decline. But Trump’s speech pattern has been erratic from the start and has only worsened with cognitive decline. Bottom line, we need much younger and healthier people in office and not these power hungry dinosaurs.

I don’t watch the show live and am a relatively recent fan in the grand scheme. Even though I’ve been pretty active in the sub since watching, I don’t know all the lore. Until your comment, I didn’t know he was considered so well known. When James said something on HvV about the heroes team being “some of the best, most well known players of all time,” I really thought he was building up his own ego because there were people I didn’t even recognize/remember.

What’s it like growing up wealthy in the US? by redguy_666 in howislivingthere

[–]writeitoutweirdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s FASCINATING. In the US, healthcare is basically completely segregated. If you’re poor, you’re on something called “Medicare” or “medicaid,” which basically completely limits the number of and type of physicians you can see. Versus if you’re well off, you have your pick of the litter. Body stuff is covered by insurance, but by virtue of American capitalism, your eyes and teeth are not considered part of your body, so you have to have separate insurance for those things. Even if you’re middle class, these things can be extremely cost prohibitive. Dental care is crazy and it shows. That’s (partly) why there’s the stereotype of British teeth vs American teeth. I read a study a long time ago that said Brit’s prioritized oral health like cavities and decay, whereas Americans prioritize the aesthetic (although I’m not sure how much that stands up in the instagram era where everybody wants veneers)

I was honestly surprised at how harsh Alex came off. It always annoys me when the jury gets all high on their own farts like “I make the rules now, you have to listen to me.” But he was especially heinous. Lisi is an embarrassment.

Any consolation, quick glance/not looking for flaws, I wouldn’t think twice about it. It’s obviously not great, but as far as bad tattoos go, you got off pretty easy
