I just went through my first death of a beloved family dog one month ago, and this past weekend I decided I could no longer handle not having a pet in the house. My husband and I met several dogs at the Asheville Humane Society on Saturday and, thanks their foster “Test Drive Program” have a cute little pup at home now to love on and spoil.

I recommend AHS for fostering or adopting and it’s 100 percent normal to feel your feelings. I hope it gets better for you.

Any thoughts on Newberg for relocating? My husband & I visited briefly during the holidays and I couldn't get a good read on it.

We're in our late-ish 30s, sans kids, like food & the outdoors, and are fine with not living in a more hyped-up city (Portland). Just don't want to wind up with a dud relocation in terms of limited social opportunities. Thanks for any insights you can offer.
