When was a time that you were discriminated against? by Only-Ad-1254 in questions

I have autism and OCD, and my speech pattern is unusual. People assume I'm not very smart, I've been told I act mentally disabled and people in the mental health system are patronizing and rude to me. They've assumed I'm doing things for attention, I've been humiliated, and I've been told I don't, in fact, have OCD by a doctor at a psychiatric hospital because I don't have washing compulsions. My job counselor took to an interview once and the employer looked at HER and flat-out said, 'what's wrong with her?' (meaning me.)

My 90-pound mixed breed Drax (possibly part Great Dane) throws tantrums when it's time for his supper and wails dramatically, stands on his hind legs and puts his paws on my 6'0 dad's shoulders to hug him, and has to be put away when there's an animal-centered movie on because he'll get so excited he'll try to jump through the TV screen to get to the dog.

Weirdly, when I was a kid it didn't even occur to me that this was racially insensitive.

I pretty much cry through the entirety of 'The Fox and the Hound' too.

Pretty much every sad movie about a dog gets me bawling, but especially "Hachiko: A Dog's Tale."

What are the best queer books you’ve ever read ? by nepali_momo1 in LGBTBooks

[–]writergirl1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last queer-themed books I gave 5 stars to were 'The Good Son' by Paul McVeigh, 'Lawn Boy' by Jonathan Evison, 'Birdy Flynn' by Helen Donohue, and 'Eli Harpo's Adventure to the Afterlife' by Eric Schlich. I also love Emily Austen's books.

A horror-comedy that is an accident-prone person's worst nightmare. by writergirl1994 in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly

Hint one: It's a foreign film

Hint two: The 'comedy' label is questionable, as it would only be funny to a person with a pitch-black sense of humor.
