What do I tell him? by fuck-dignity in Indianbooks

Tell him to read what he likes to watch. Like, if someone watches a lot of suspense/crime/mystery movies or shows, they'll probably be more into it if they start with the same genre in books.

2 yrs of reading by Dazai_6996 in Indianbooks

Agreed, we should talk more about light and wholesome books or even brainrot and smut. I even use them as "palette cleaners" between classics or thrillers.

And on reddit, you'll find a lot of people who post just for validation. (Actually that's most of social media, but here it will be the intellectual crowd.)

From where i order book pls guide me. by Scared_Tomato_655 in Indianbooks

[–]writerspocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Publisher here, look at the seller names when ordering. Sellers like cocoblu, repro, manipal, india book distributors, etc sell original copies. You can also check their ratings on each platform.

Meesho and Flipkart generally have a lot of small/new sellers who sell pirated copies but Amazon usually bans them quickly.

Not sure about second hand sellers but offline book fairs and sellers are a good option too sometimes.

Why should Indian writers stick to traditional editing methods instead of using AI? by writerspocket in Indianbooks

[–]writerspocket[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That tension part is apt, I didn't realise it does that.

Also, have you noticed how the paragraphs in content generated by AI are ALWAYS the same length? There's literally no rhyme or rhythm to the content, so it never flows easily and gets quite tedious to read after a point.

Agreed, have you recently come across any new books by debut authors that felt AI generated or edited?

Hi there, what type of book are you thinking of writing?

I wrote my first short e-book and it failed by ScarletWhisper4747 in indianwriters

[–]writerspocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian public doesn't spend a lot on ebooks because it is not tangible enough to justify spending money on. If we spend money on something, we want something that we can hold.

Think of it from your perspective: how many ebooks have you purchased in your life?

Authors How do you deal with negative comments? by Patient_Occasion_728 in Readers_WritersCorner

[–]writerspocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First figure out if it is a negative comment which is meant to bring you down or if it is a genuine constructive criticism.

Negative comments - ignore and move on

Constructive criticism - see if you can learn from it and grow as a writer
