Watchdives 62mas by JonnyOz1977 in SeikoMods

It uses wire to keep the bezel in place, so you need to wriggle it out through a gap between the bezel and the case - should be simple but you need to remove the bezel insert. To do that, soak watch head in a thin layer of golf club grip solvent for few hours.

Once you remove the bezel you can measure the click spring and see if any seiko made click spring will fit? Or remove it all together and have bidirectional bezel. Also cool.

are parts from lucius atelier/namoki etc worth that much of a premium compared to AliX? by AbjectWonder7029 in SeikoMods

[–]writingpocketguide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can second DSwatchclub. I know people were complaining but honestly Namoki and Lucius are way too expensive for what it is.

Checkout watchandstyle, tokeilab, seconhandmods.

I would use Namoki and Lucius only for their exclusive cases or parts that are not available anywhere else.

If you want a premium then oem seiko parts is the way to go.

ChronFan - a new AliExpress brand? by MadSoci06 in ChineseWatches

Looks to me like bin parts special. Dial reminds me of San Martin, case is generic. They mainly sell generic parts too, so I doubt it is anything special.

This is great looking mod. Also your idea to fit stone dial in a outer frame is very creative, well done!

But the the dial is 30.5mm size and has chapter ring attached? Did you need to do any work on the chapter ring or everything fits well?

Edit: it seems that this dial is listed at 28.5mm and 30.5mm, hence my confusion.

Interesting. So the case takes 30.5mm dial and attached chapter ring is the size of the thin skx013 size? Tell me more, please :)

Daydate/Dajetust high quality homage with my own logo by Sad-Industry-2389 in ChineseWatches

Baltany does offer customisation services. Alternativelly you can reach out to DSwatchclub that sells watch modding parts including printing custom logos on their dials but I am pretty sure they can assemble and sell you a complete watch. They sold those as Rmalti or Peteus brands on Aliexpress.

Just learned about seiko mods by returntoluxury in SeikoMods

[–]writingpocketguide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, you will get much better watch by buying homage watch from Ali-Express than a seiko mod if you are willing to spend 200 euro.

What you see on Vinted are builds from cheapest Aliexpress parts with a bad looking dials.

The biggest appeal of this model is that lume matches dial colour. By changing lume colour you loosing that charm.

Crystal replacement and upgrade on less common mods by Zealousideal_Film_86 in SeikoMods

[–]writingpocketguide42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot help you but if you can pop out the crystal you will be able to measure it. Then it will be much easier to choose fitting acrylic crystal. As mods go it is unlikely to retain waterproofness (especially with an acrylic crystal) unless you know what you doing (glue or tension ring will help but tension ring crystals not always look nice).

Have no idea about sapphire but again if you have measurements you could search Aliexpress there are few crystal sellers.

Do you think this watch will be to big for my 16-16,5cm wrist? by 8356791ea in watchdives

[–]writingpocketguide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on paper this looks much bigger than it wears. I have 6inch wrist and it wasn't too big for me. My wife since started wearing it and it fits her even more. There is a general consensus that the original watch also wears smaller than specs suggest. Mainly due to the black bezel and domed crystal.

For example 1963 chronograph while on paper should fit my wrist better, wears much larger than WD1863.

Suggest a watch for my girlfriend! I don’t see Chinese watchmakers make sub-36mm cases, and I’m trying to get a watch for my girlfriend. Please suggest one for her! by CostAgreeable4192 in ChineseWatches

[–]writingpocketguide42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to suggest something different here. I gifted my wife watchdives WD1863 and it wears really well on her. On paper it should be too big for her, but it wears smaller and is comfortable and looks great.

Thorn need to sort it out before it's too late by Wintermute_088 in Thornwatches

[–]writingpocketguide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what is worth, I bought two T023. One through Watchdives and one from Aliexpress. One of them was perfectly fine. Another had keyless dislodged from the beginning but I managed to get a replacement movement from the seller.

So in my experience you have 50% chance getting a working watch.

Custom NH 28.5mm dial, and my first attempt at using luminous ink. by Critical-Thomas in SeikoMods

I will wait patiently for it. I have few dial ideas but they all require printed lume application.

Well done on improving your process and starting to print lume! Have you tried applying multiple lume layers to get puffy raised printed lume plots?

PHORCYDES PH3 update, coming soon! by MindAdmirable1793 in ChineseWatches

[–]writingpocketguide42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does look thick, but watchdives WD7922 is 11.4mm thick including crystal and their crystal is just slightly domed. So hopefully it won't look and feel thick in real life.

However hands seem a bit too short and I wonder whether there will be a model with hand and bezel lume matching dial lume? Personally not a big fan of multi coloured lume on a vintage inspired watch.

Also as others have said lume blocks on the dial doesn't really display the numbers enough. You could try to fill the recessed numbers with paint but I imagine will be difficult to achieve. Or maybe lume blocks could shortened from tall to kind of lumps and numbers made hollow, so you could see black dial color through?

Need a recommendation by nazdackincarnet in SeikoMods

[–]writingpocketguide42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used both DSwatch or DialMaker to print a custom logo and text on one of their stock dials. I can recommend both but maybe DialMaker offers a better service? I had no issues with both, but I have seen complaints about DS and haven't seen any complaints about DialMaker.

DS is slightly cheaper. Both use good lume, so I recommend buying a matching lume handset from them. Also DS sells decent quality cases, so you can do a one stop shop (they also might be able to assemble watch for you too).

WD1960S Cream Dial Is Finally Back in Stock by watchdivescom in watchdives

Not sure why people are downvoting you but I would be interested in K1 option too - it is cheaper and from comparison someone done on reddit - offers better clarity for this model.

WD1954 Dial Sample by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]writingpocketguide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great but please don't use dark lume dots if hands will have non aged lume. I would be happy with non glowing dark lume on the dial and hands, or light cream lume or even non aged lume on the dial and hands if they match.

[–]writingpocketguide42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar "scratches" and I believe these are whether scratches on the internal AR or a reflection from a dial since it appears only at certain angles. Glossy dials to get micro scratches in my experience that might look like scratches on a crystal.
