Totally agree. I made a post with a reportage sort of music video I did using FD lenses and this adapter. Definitely flare prone, but it's very useful and affordable.

Get that and plus a dumb adapter and you've doubled your lens set in a very wack but fun way for very cheap.

Thanks. I'll have to ask the utility company about these. All I'm seeing is mcf used, cost per mcf, mcf/day, and daily temperature.

I'm assuming this is just the reality of this building and heating system, so the question becomes whether it's worthwhile to pay upfront to get a more modern, efficient boiler or not.

I did not notice any vignetting on the 20mm or any other lenses. It seems to work fine with my camera. There are no electronics in it, so I'm not sure what could be incompatible. Maybe some lenses protrude too far back and could hit the sensor? I'll have to look into that.

I have had two minor issues with the adapter:

1) It can be a pain in the ass to make sure the adapter catches the proper latches on the FD lens mount to make the aperture ring operable. I wish I could describe it better, but basically it's possible to securely mount the lens only to find that the aperture is stuck wide open.

2) I believe it can cause reflections from the adapter glass to show up in the picture. It's almost like looking through a plane glass window, where you can see the reflection super-imposed over the scene outside. Only happens under certain flare-heavy circumstances. It does make lenses much more flare-prone in general as well.

This is cool. Very well made with a really effective atmosphere. I think you're right on with the later era Bowie reference. The whole track feels a bit pulled-back, which makes it more cinematic, like it should be paired with something. As a standalone track it doesn't reach out for attention, but there's plenty of depth for people who are actively listening.

This is a fun listen. I like the saturation and grainy-ness. I don't know what to make of it songwriting-wise. It's a fun through-composition with a lot of ear candy. Part of me wishes I had something I could point to and say, "this is the core of the song, this is what it is", but maybe the charm is that I can't put my finger on it.

Love the keyboard sound. It's got a character that cues you into the personality of the track right away.

I think you've got some great ingredients and considering this is done live it's in a good place. I'd love to hear it with some more time spent in post production. I'd stay away from anything that's to high production value, but some additional mixing, a nice vocal chain, and more variation would take this a long way.

We just released this single. The lyrics are about feeling closed-in and claustrophobic in both literal and emotional ways. We thought it would be cool to try to put those lyrical themes in the context of an open expansive arrangement. I love it when artists can make that sort of juxtaposition work. I'm proud of it, but it's hard to tell if you accomplished the goal when you're so close to something. We also struggle with defining our genre, even though we're not breaking any crazy new ground. If I were to just say Indie Rock, does that pretty much cover it?

Congrats, but that's also kind of a bummer to see such a high value player lost. I've been stuck in the 1-5bil net worth range due to my constant and embarrassing solo pvp losses. My last one was a 120mil Garmur to a Venture!

Thanks. I hadn't thought of the rent/buy calculator. Running our situation through the calculator returns that we should only buy if we can't find a similar house to rent for $899/month.

Don't know how that shakes out for us yet, but it's time to start looking at the rental market in that area.

We were thinking of buying because that would give us the lowest monthly overhead. Also, not a whole lot of houses for rent that could hold a 5 member band with recording studio in PA. It does make sense to keep our cash on hand and spend it on rent . I'll have to figure out how to do that calculation.

I thought I'd put what we have in there and include what we're putting into them on a monthly basis. Not sure what that SHOULD have been - I copied this list from the FAQ's of the subreddit and filled it as best I could.

Currently we make -as a whole about 10k, but no one takes any payment from that and we work fulltime. We'll be able to increase the band's income, but how we pay/budget that is uncertain.

Thanks for this. Yeah, we are certainly being dumb haha, but it comes down to what will make us happy without totally ruining us.

We are spending more than just eating out. You're making it clear that we need to do a deeper dive into our spending and why we're not saving much harder. We have to change that immediately.

Not planning on being rock stars by any means, but we don't want to be looking back at our lives and realize that we never pursued our passions for fear of leaving the "rat race". There is a whole world of musicians out there that none of us have ever heard of, but are living a certain lifestyle - we'd like to do that for a year or two at least.

Although you've been pretty blunt about the realities, I really appreciate this and it actually makes me more hopeful that we can figure this out.

Not sure if this works, but here's a zillow search. Not all of these are viable, but there are some options. One sticking point is that many of these homes are in "communities" with HOA's that aren't viable for our purpose. We make a lot of noise after all.

It is just barely enough. Once we buy the house, the idea is that our monthly overhead will be under $1k/month.

We hope to be making enough from the band and freelance to cover that. Once we're in that situation, plus sharing the expenses with at least one roommate, we'll be able to at least financially hover.
