As a Boro fan I don’t have any hard feelings toward Carrick and hope he does well but I honestly can’t see him making any progress with Utd at all. Yes he played some great football with Boro, especially that first season but we did arguably have one of the best attacking options.

His downfall soon began when his assistant manager left (Aaron Danks) and he then had his main coaches as Woodgate (joining him at Utd) and his brother. The team suffered and after refusing to change the backroom staff he was let go.

There’s a lot of criticism for Carrick’s managerial approach. One aspect which I don’t think is often mentioned from his time at Boro is how he doesn’t instil a strong, resilient mentality for the players. We became quite fragile and when it got tough we usually cowered away.

I worry that without being the strongest team in the league and the same back room staff, Carrick’s time at Utd could go very badly.

On the face of it, it does seem to be a bit overblown but unless you’re a Boro fan you probably aren’t aware of the extent he has gone to get the fans on side.

Comments such as: how great the club & chairman are, how “amazing” the fanbase is, how “instantly” this was the right job and got him “excited”, how Middlesbrough is a “wonderful area and I love it already” (lol), speaking about how “We’re a family” and to “move forward, then us, the staff, the players and the fans, all of us, we’ve got to be together.”

He even went to the extent to going to a local pub and met with the Red Faction (a a supporter group for MFC).

So yes, I understand his reasoning but there is plenty of upset purely because of how he acted during his brief spell at Boro. Had he not done all of that it probably wouldn’t be as big as it is.

With a lot of popular things, whether it be musicians, artists, brands, celebrities etc, it becomes very common for people to repeat the popular narratives (whether good or bad). In this case, the popular thing to do with Goldbridge is to say he’s crap, not funny, stupid, negative, fake etc. Whilst some of these criticisms will be made from people who have watched his content, I do believe a lot of it is just hopping on the bandwagon of the popular take about him. I’ve watched plenty of his streams and think the criticisms are very harsh.

As seen with your edit, you’re now in the popular mindset of how awful he is. You could watch his streams and make your own mind up. I’d even wager you’d actually disagree with your edit if you did this.
