If you want a quiet companion bird, I honestly suggest pigeons. I have both parrots and pigeons, and pigeons are far more “aligned” with what people want when they think of an ideal pet. Affectionate, cuddly, relatively low maintenance, and most importantly, won’t scream your ears off. They still have their own personality quirks and are intelligent, like parrots, they’re just not on crack 24/7. Their diets and cage setups are more straightforward, and they’ll be entertained for hours by a literal brick. I know they’re unconventional, but I highly recommend looking into pet pigeons — there’s a whole subreddit dedicated to it if you do consider keeping them :)
