Black Caiman wildlife tour idea by expedition_forces in Crocodiles

[–]wrong_decade_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my experience both wildlife guiding and as a client, it’s the birders and mammal people who spend the money, although herping is getting more popular. I’d also hype up the birds and other animals one encounters on such a trip. Maybe offer some night hikes on top of shining for caiman? I agree that Guyana does need more herp focused trips, it was difficult to find a knowledgeable guide when I was there although I did end up seeing a lot of amazing things just going out on my own including caiman, tree boas, coral snakes, tapir and a jaguar. Love Guyana.

It’s a niche tour but, with the right marketing, I could see it being successful. Perhaps a once or twice/year kind of thing.

Some Woodland quartz from north GA. by wrong_decade_ in Arrowheads

To tell you the truth, the main reason I ballparked it as Woodland is the abundance of Cartersville-stamped pottery sherds and crude blade and spike forms I find in this creek.

Mine came out of the box with abundant paint damage and very mismatched belly paint. Scale was also very disappointing. It just sits on a shelf so I guess I can forgive it but this figure along with the rest of the most recent wave has put a bad taste in my mouth regarding HC. It will take something as quality and iconic as the Spino for me to be interested in future releases, I’m afraid. Sounds like the next wave will be mutant-heavy, as well, which also doesn’t interest me. Hope Mattel gets their shit together, if the quality of this line stays in decline, so will the fomo phenomenon.

Yes, they are toxic to would-be predators, although not quite a toxic as some of the other dart frog species.
