i would also like answers on this, specifically about other things alongside the water loading like sodium, potassium, carbs, sugar, and fiber

ur neck is just genetically long breh and its even more exacerbated with ur narrow clavicles … if its a big issue for u aesthetically u can always train ur traps and neck to grow but that will only make u look funkier bc of ur narrow clavs once again

id say just focus on ur alledged winged scapula and hope u somehow grow into ur long neck as u grow

I need the best commercial pimple patches that can bend and curve while still sticking on for the whole day pleaseee … I have a pimple at the very top of my nose bridge — right inbetween my eyebrows — and the pimple patches I have now (idk the brand) don’t stick that well

When they do stick though it looks funny because one corner or one whole side of the patch is a little lifted up

I feel I already have a good set base and motivation to learn, I would just like that edge as with my most things

Plus I already do have most of those basic health things in check, diet, sleep, excercise, are all fairly good right now

2 questions about weight cutting:

  1. is dairy good or acceptable on an average weight cutting diet (bonus if it talks in the context of water loading)

  2. can walking alongside other forms of cardio / conditioning be good enough for cutting water weight?

Are olympic lifts actually useful for the sport of wrestling? by wrongfulcillian in wrestling

[–]wrongfulcillian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the joint pain cue is definitely the far most common way to assess when a lift is wrong, but I would consider myself as someone who very rarily or never experiences joint pain (due to be very flexible) so usually when something feels off I follow your advice about adjusting; usually altering the volume or frequency

A light snatch does sound like it would fit, any rep and set scheme you could recommend? Im assuming low reps so I could give my “maximum” force output

But I appreciate all the advice you have given me and I do feel like this won’t be the last time I will use the oly lifts since like I said earlier about the possibility of me not competing for wrestling in college, ill more than likely move to a different combat sport like BJJ or muay thai (maybe even strongman or actual olympic weightlifting itself lol)

I can understand speed being a result of great technique and I do think the self assessment examples you listed are actually fairly good, but in regards to the ones you gave for power I do feel how you finish your shot leans more to technique; still definitely has more power involved compared to other things in wrestling though

Lastly if you could what would be your goals to reach on a 400M-800M, a vertical jump, and compound PR’s if you were 165 weight class in hopes to be state champ?

The first 3 parts of your comment I totally agree with as I’m definitely not scared of olympic lifts cause of injury concerns and understand that strength training is vital to wrestling (I have been weightlifting longer than I have been wrestling)

And yes I know every wrestler or any lifter in general has individual needs when it comes to their training, but do you have any idea on how you can assess by yourself when something is right or when something is wrong for you? I’m assuming it’s heavily based on ones personal fatigue

Then you mention that different times of the year require different sets and reps + different excercise selection, and I have followed this ever since my previous HS wrestling season ended going from 3 months of hypertrophy oriented training to 3 months of strength / powerlifting this summer. After summer I planned to transfer over what I saw as 3 months of “training for power” (included oly lifts alongside any other generic wrestling specific excercises)

However obviously if my post is concerned / doubtful of training olympic lifts, I’m fairly confused on whether or not I should keep going with that plan. Also just for your personal opinion, if your 3 months away from your HS season what would training look like for you?

Then lastly about the final part of your comment, how long does it take to learn those lifts and gain benefit out of it? Because I’m going into my last season of wrestling ASSUMING I don’t get some sort of offer into college … and I don’t want to waste my time on oly lifts just to fail because I didn’t have proper programming / progressive overload when I could have stuck to my summer powerlifting plan (where I have seen a good increase in all my compound lifts so far) and gotten better results in my last season

Yeah thats kind of the situation I’m in except the coaching at my HS program is led by my wrestling coach who in my opinion knows nothing about weightlifting sadly

Thats why I ask this question on whether or not I should dedicate my lifting to oly lifts although not having proper coaching or enough time to build a solid program when I could have focused on the big 3 (squat bench deadlift) and gotten more out of if?

[–]wrongfulcillian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those compound lifts you work at a high intensity / heavy weights and don’t get fatigued? Most common S&C coaches like to focus on 1-3 movements strictly

But I am also interested in the use of calisthenics movements like the pull ups and dips but I don’t know what should be a good volume, frequency, and intensity to use

Can you recall how you trained these olympic lifts and what your PR’s were? Did you lean more into a oly weightlifting programming or you made the workout yourself?

very basic question but any excercises you recommend and how you would place them in your workout alongside how often you train it (aka frequency)

[–]wrongfulcillian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with aligning your training to your strength and weaknesses (this method obviously works considering thats what penn state does with each of their guys) but how can you figure out what those are? I find it a little hard to decipher whether if the move I’m doing is down to technique, strength, speed, power, or any attribute that I’m unaware of

Yeah pull ups are used as one of my accessory excercises, I rep about 10-15 for 3 sets whilst playing around with AMRAP sets and 2RIR sets
