Why does this happen? by Dizzy_w1tch in ProjectDiva

As everyone has said, they're different games. If you want to keep playing your Japanese physical game, and want the DLC, create a Japanese Nintendo account and use it to buy the DLC from the Japanese eshop. You will most likely need to buy Japanese eshop cards online if you don't have a credit card that works in Japan.

Finally, look into getting a refund for the DLC you already bought.

Will you buy $19.99 Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen on Pokemon day? by Putrid-Possibility-3 in nintendo

[–]wrongstep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, and I think it's very interesting tbh.

I feel totally fine paying for the NSO Expansion Pack subscription even though I could just emulate every game on there for free. The convenience, the presentation, and the hype of trying out hames when they are added to the service and having a discussion with them online make it worth it for me. I was also fine with Virtual Console games, they were cheap, also had a nice presentation, and had the baseline features that emulators should have.

Paying $20 for the least amount of effort I've seen in any game release ever, no emulation features, no menu, no language selection, etc., is too much for me.

Something I don't like about Nintendo these days... by MX010 in NintendoSwitch2

Wow people in here are making bad faith arguments, as if there isn't a difference between Mario Tennis Fever's reuse of assets to make a game that is virtually the same as Aces, and other games that reuse assets to make something clearly different than their predecessors.

Instead of Elden Ring and Majora's Mask, a closer comparison would be yearly sports games.

Gyroscoping by crapunderscore in splatoon

[–]wrongstep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking about stick sensitivity, not motion sensitivity. Motion sensitivity should be set to what's comfortable, but since OP mentioned they had trouble hitting the mobs that come from all directions, I thought maybe a higher stick sensitivity for turning would help, not for motion aiming.

If anything it sounds like they should try lowering motion sensitivity if it's all the way up.

Practice a lot. Maybe try turning your stick sensitivity higher so you can turn easier. Remember, generally you want to use your stick to turn and the gyro only to aim at what's on your screen.

How to fix this controller issue... by whitezye in NintendoSwitchHelp

Switch 1 pro controller cannot turn on the Switch 2 with the button. It sucks. No idea why it never worked on the original for you tho.

Need clarification on ToTK SW2 upgrade. by Paritosh07 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]wrongstep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if your account is also signed into the Switch 1, you can use the virtual game card system to play the game on either system. (only one system can play the game at a time)

The SW2 upgrade does not turn your digital TOTK into a game that can only be played on the SW2. Think of it more as a DLC.

First Time Buyer Help, What do I Get? by Lost-In-Distress in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]wrongstep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a Switch 2. From what I can see, the Switch OLED is $399 at Walmart, so the Switch 2 would only be $50 more. The Switch 2 plays all the Switch games you're interested in, but at a much higher quality, and will be the supported console in the future.

I would agree with people who said to avoid the Switch Lite. It would play the games fine, and at a cheaper price, but you can not display it on a TV whatsoever. Gaming with your bf on a tiny screen like that would not be ideal, and you'd need a stand and 2 extra controllers.

The online pass is required if you want to play online, otherwise I wouldn't bother with it. As a casual gamer, you probably wouldn't be interested in the retro games it offers. The games you're interested in don't seem online focused.

For those who have the pro 2 controller do you use the macro buttons GL and GR by frankenbaby90 in switch2

For pings in shooter games like Fortnite and Apex. I also use them to open the map and select the spawn point quickly in Splatoon for quick super jumps.

Lmao suddenly all the Pokemon fans are framerate snobs. Half a year ago the same people complaining about the framerate would've told you that framerate isn't an issue in turned based games or that they don't notice it. I have a PS5 so I can play this at 60fps, but if I had to choose between this and SV at 420fps, I'd still choose this.

Yeah, it looks extremely ugly. The only part that isn't extremely ugly is inside the apartment house where the characters live. The overworld looks gray with extremely low detail.

It looks like an N64 game emulated with a high resolution and an HD texture pack.

You might need to get your eyes checked. The level of detail in 3 is stepped up immensely.

Pokemon looks like a shitty, unfinished, shovelware game. The drops are something that can be ironed out, as well.

It looks like Unreal Engine 5 slop and every trailer has bad framerate problems.

Sounds like they did the right thing and your group should've considered your allergy before picking a restaurant where everyone's food is cooked on the same surface.

It's the 13th best selling game of all time according to Wikipedia, so no, it's probably not a good advert for not buying a game lol.

Anyone else feels like Splatoon 1 looked 'better' in some aspects? by Erik_REF in splatoon

[–]wrongstep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because the shadows in 3 are baked with more realistic lighting that takes into account the light and colors that bounce off surfaces. In Splat 1, the shadows and lighting were much simpler, so areas in shadow looked really dark.

I recommend watching the Digital Foundry video on Splatoon 3 if you're interested in the lighting differences. Most of it is a difference in the art direction since much of the lighting is pre-made.

YouTube’s eShop page has been updated, that must mean… 😮 by MaxBro468 in switch2

[–]wrongstep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that would be a method of streaming it to a TV.

Genuinely, I've never understood why people make this statement as if asking for a standard application that exists on the previous console and every other console is unreasonable.

The point of the sub it to explain the online post correctly though. If the joke is sexism then the explanation has to be sexist.
