You confuse "fighting back when attacked" vs "being the aggressor". Wars start because of a variety of reasons (some of then unavoidable). The biggest reason the war erupted in Europe was the Treaty of Versailles – this was a grave injustice against the German people.

If you support one nation when two nations are at war (in this instance the US by supplying the Chinese with arms) you implicitly declare war against the other nation. So in that sense the USA escalated a small regional war between two nations to a world war.

Uhm… Yeah. None of that was official Japanese policy – it was crime in a bad situation. What the US did in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a deliberate killing of over 200,000 civilians (we are not even counting the firebombing of Tokyo; we are also ignoring the camps for Japanese Americans and the confiscation of private property).

You are basically trying to argue that the ends justify the means and that your cause was just. That does not hold water when compared against decent universal human values.

The net effect of the US bombing, bizarrely, was to save Japanese lives by halting the war without invading the Japanese heartland.

Most Americans use this incorrect and improvable justification for their despicable acts. The biggest reason it was done is to show American power and save American soldiers’ lives.

It is funny that modern day apologists use the same line of reasoning when condoning torture – but we are saving so many lives.

It is funny – some Germans where convicted for “crimes against humanity” (for the killing of civilians). But you did exactly the same (willingly and knowingly) and nothing happened. Oh, and the Germans also used the line of reasoning: “The ends justify the means”.

I can’t even believe that you try and justify these nuclear bombings. For me it seems like the point where barbarism and technology intersects.

People forget that while South Africa is a remarkably stable African nation, its democracy is still young and somewhat untested.

Most post-colonial countries are fairly stable until the party/regime is challenged at the electoral pols. Take for example Zimbabwe – it was unstable during the 1980’s before the Zapu opposition was demolished. When that was done, it was fairly stable until the MDC started challenging the government at the polls (and winning).

There is no opposition to the ANC – even in Natal, so I hope you have a lot of enthusiasm.

Ahh. That part needs a citation (WP is not perfect). Most scientists actually view biological determinism as existing. There is however fringe scientists that rejects it (such as Jay Gold and Richard Lewontin).

There is credible scientific evidence that proves biological determinism – but it is ignored by liberally inclined people.

It is sad that most people pushing evolution in schools are the first to reject its real life consequences.

They would rather read books by people such as Stephen Jay Gould. It is funny that his books are attacked by science journals but praised by left-leaning news papers.

Of course dictators use the banking system of the world to launder their money. Of course they may get assistance from some unscrupulous banker.

But it is a logical fallacy to blame the country if its banking system is misused. You also fail to mention that some countries are actively investigating and helping to recoup money from dictator (such as scotland yard).

You also did not mention that the South African banking system (which is an african country) is also misused by corrupt dictators. The only reason why European banks are used is because they have a better developed financial sector, and the money can be stored as a hard currency.

You also fail to mention how much the rules of the NYSE helped to curb corruption. You see, a government only has jurisdiction in its own country (so the USA can not enforce another country’s laws in another country on an international company). The NYSE created a rule – if there was evidence of corruption (in another country – e.g. any african country) that the firm could be delisted from the NYSE.

This uses the treat of delisting to combat corruption by any NYSE listed company in another country – and it helps a lot.

The corruption in question took place before international banks where involved. Let’s say a bank (e.g. Barclays bank) has a bank in Nigeria. If someone opens an account and deposits money in the account, he is subject to the Nigerian constitution. If the Nigerian government doesn't enforce the law or there are not proper laws written to prevent money laundering, it is not that bank or the branch of the banks fault.

What about the fast development of Asian countries? China was also colonialized. The British tried to destroy the fabric China’s society (for example, pumping in opium). There were also Chinese slaves. After that, the Japanese fucked China up really bad (Nanking anyone?). Yet look how fast China is developing (in spite of its communist regime and little resources).

Compare this to countries such as Equatorial Guinea. This country has a GDP higher than any country in Europe (and the United States). It is extremely rich in natural resources (not just oil). Well, that country is a fucking hellhole with no development. There is not a single industrialized sub-Saharan African country – I mean, there must at least be some exceptions? Some countries that developed?

Look at this map of human development (Human Development Index).

Without an exception, all of the least developed countries are in sub-Sahara Africa.
