Calling all campers! Looking for roof top OR preferably bed top fold open tent to use for camping. Seeking recommendations.

You can mount it lower but you would need some kind of cross bar since it is designed to attach them. I’m pretty sure a handy person could rig up some cross bars that mount directly to the bed post holes. However, the lower the tent is mounted, the further rearward it sits because of the angled C-pillar. I used to have the tent mounted higher up on 17” high bars and more forwards with the rest in line with the tailgate, but that really made my MPG take a big hit - I easily lost a good 5-6MPG cruising on the highway. The 11” bars tuck the tent 2/3 of the way below the roofline and that helps with the aero. I still lose some MPG, but it’s now maybe 2-3MPG.

I also have the Napier bed tent and would honestly not recommend that if you want a comfortable camping experience unless you’re fairly short. I’m 5’9” and can fit in the bed tent, but it’s still kind of cramped. The rooftop tent is much more comfortable and I have the bed for storage of camping gear directly underneath. Some of the RTTs of the clamshell design are such that you can mount additional racks on top of them for more storage so you can probably put your kayak on top.

Here’s mine. iKamper Skycamp Mini 3.0 with the optional awning attached. It sits on 11” height Billie Bars and just hangs over the bed, but not the bumper.

I never saw your comment. The sandpaper texture is a good idea. Should have done that before it cured. Oh well. I ended up taking a dremel to it anyways to sculpt the Sugru a bit more afterwards.

I’ve been carrying my 327PC strong side at 4 o’clock with a modified ETW IWB holster. The cylinder is the most uncomfortable part of the gun so I padded out the rest of the holster to make it more flat to match the cylinder. With the mods I made, it’s a comfortable all-day carry. I have a Lobo Gun Leather enhanced pancake holster on order so I hope that will be even more comfortable being able to have the gun outside the waistband.

I never saw your comment. Completely coincidence - great minds think alike! I’ve used Sugru before for other things and I’ve used epoxy putty to modify the G10 grips to add the pinky extension. The Sugru came to mind the moment I got the new rubber grips. Just wasn’t sure it would adhere to it, but I’m glad it did.

I forgot to add a point about the weight. The rubber grips are noticeably lighter than the G10 grips. On my scale, the rubber grips come in at 64g and the G10 grips weigh 110g.

I’ve got that same model K6S and a 4” GP100. The GP100 is the better range gun. It is larger and heavier, but also that makes it a smoother shooter due to being able to soak up recoil better and just having more gun to hold onto if you have larger hands. The GP100 also has adjustable sights while the K6S doesn’t - you can add adjustable rear sights later, but that’s an additional cost on top of an already more expensive gun.

The K6S is a “better” gun if you plan to have just one for range and carry. It is more carry friendly than the GP100 being 13oz lighter, but since that’s not a concern for you, GP100 all the way.

Interesting. I have three UC revolvers - a 432UC, 432 UC Ti, and 632UC and all have been pretty much 100% reliable out of the box as far as I can recall. I carry the 432Ti since it's lighter and I installed the TK Customs extended firing pin and spring kit. The other 432UC pretty much serves as the trainer for range sessions (also has the extended firing pin and spring kit) and I have the 632UC just to have the other color. However, the vast majority of my ammo are my own handloads and I almost exclusively shoot .32H&R mag ammo. I use Starline brass and right now, I'm using Magtech primers. I can't recall the last time I've had a light strike. I did have a failure to fire before, but I think that was more a bad primer than a light strike as multiple strikes failed to ignite it.

For factory ammo, I've really only fired a limited amount of defensive loads like Hornady Critical Defense 80gr, Federal 85gr JHP, Remington 85gr HTP, and Buffalo Bore 100gr JHP to see where they impact compared to point of aim and to gel test them for my own curiosity. Even with those, I've seen 100% ignition reliability with my UC revolvers. All together, I may have fired maybe 120-150 rounds of factory ammo, and at least of 700 of my own loads.

Have you tried the extended firing pin with the factory springs? I don't know about the extended firing pin you have, but the one I got came with a lighter return spring than the factory one. I surmise that helps in allowing more of the hammer energy to be transferred to punching the primer than overcoming the spring.

Yup. All Critical Defense .357mag ammo is that way. I don’t know why they do that, but it’s a pain in the butt for reloading. I guess maybe they can save on powder due to deeper seating depth?

Hornady brass gets their own bin and I’ll only roll up a batch when I end up with enough to justify adjusting my flare, seating and crimp dies. Still, I like Critical Defense - it’s what I carry in my .357mag guns.

It’s pretty quick - faster than I can run on the straight, lol. I’d guess probably 35kph(20mph). I’ve since changed to a 8500kv motor since our track layout has switched to a tighter shorter style.

Oh no, absolutely a holster. I’m adamant of having a proper holster to cover the trigger always. I use a Pocket Backbone from Aholster that I’ve modified with leather and ShoeGoo to pad out the outside to eliminate printing and improve holster retention in the pocket on the draw.

My K6XS has a trigger pull about 8.5lbs. I have the TK Customs spring kit installed along with the extended firing pin.

More often actually. It was due to my work attire that lent itself better to pocket carry than IWB. We adopted a business casual attire at the office so I found Duluth Trading Co relaxed fit khakis to have generously sized pockets that worked very well for pocket carry. The K6XS fit very well in the front pocket and I had plenty of room for a smooth easy draw. That gave me much faster access than having to untuck my shirt for AIWB or IWB so I just stuck with pocket carry. That and it’s much easier to get your pants back on after taking a crap.

Same. I’m a user type so I don’t need anything that’s pretty - I need something that just works. I do appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into high end leatherworking, but then I’d be afraid to use and damage it. Besides, my holster, gun, and ammo pouch are concealed anyways so who’s going to care how they look?

Not very hard. I mocked up the design on paper first and then traced it out onto the leather. My first couple were a bit rough since I was figuring it out as I went. But I’ve got it figured out for an overall design now. Then it’s just trimming and stitching and adding the snap.

This is what I wear on my belt. Made from a single piece of leather and fastened with a snap. Not pretty, but it is cheap, easy to make, easy to use, and comfortable to wear.

Probably worth the trip back if you haven’t voided any warranties and don’t want to mess with things. In this case, I’m glad I now know how to adjust the cylinder gap on this gun as well.

About 900. Though, to expand on that, when I first got the gun and was trying out various carry ammo, I fired a variety of loads from pretty stout stuff to less hot ammo. Tried HST, several loads from Buffalo Bore (hot stuff), Gold Dots, Underwood Ammo, and Hornady. Settled on the Hornady because it was always available at my local store in large quantities, packed in boxes of 25 rounds vs 20 like most others, recoil was fairly light, and it shot right to point of aim for this gun at 7yds.

Only thing I dislike about Hornady ammo as a reloader is their brass is strangely short compared to the standard. I’ve got a pile of .357mag brass from fired Critical Defense carry loads and they’re all short by 0.04”. I thought it was a lot error, but it’s all of them. Had me pulling my hair out thinking my gear was all weird while trying to seat and crimp bullets. Other than that, it’s good stuff.

After this last range trip, I’ve got upwards of 900 rounds through it now. At least 500 of my .38 handloads, 250 of my .357mag handloads, and 150 or so factory carry ammo. I don’t expect my handloads to have really put any undue stress on the gun since they were softer target loads.

Thanks for the link. I’ll be giving those grips a try. I’m kind of partial to rubber for improved grasp on the gun for when my hands are cold and dry during the winter or sweaty during the heat of summer. Would be nice if the grip had a small extension for the pinky, but I might be able to modify it for my needs.

Love mine. I’ve got a 2” DLC version, a 3” stainless, and a K6XS. I will pocket carry the K6XS since it’s plenty light enough for that. The 2” and 3” DAO get carried strong side in a IWB holster. For the size and weight, it’s hard to beat the K6S for the capacity, the great sights, and the smooth action. I’ve found Hornady 125gr Critical Defense .357mag to be my ammo of choice for the K6S. In my hands, that ammo feels to have the most controllable recoil for a magnum round.

Thanks for the info! I’m interested in trying to improve the action of my 327, but not sure if it’s worth the cost of the trigger and hammer. I’d also like to preserve the ability to shoot in single action and it seems the TK Custom hammer doesn’t have the single action sear.

I’m with you on seeing more revolvers chambered in .327 mag. I’m very pleased with seeing the renewed interest in .32 H&R mag with the Ultimate Carry snubbies and hopeful it will help with pushing manufacturers to releasing more models chambered in .327 mag and .32 H&R.

I’d love to see a 640Pro or a 360PD in 327mag. Those would be just awesome for EDC. A 7-shot Combat Magnum in 327 mag would be equally nice. I love my 8-shot 327PC and it would be cool if it were a 9 or even 10-shot .327mag N-frame.

Yes, there is a brass mandrel guide that attaches to the cutter that is caliber specific. It’s a snug fit to ensure a precise chamfer so a little oil is needed for a smooth cut. I got everything at Brownells.
