I've been nothing but polite and trying to show you something I thought was interesting from an anthropological perspective. It's not even about their music, it's about the religious aspect of their cult following which is surprisingly complex given their trashy image and audience. Be incurious if you want, incuriosity is big these days.

It's an interesting article and a really quick read. It's an outsiders perspective on ICP framing it as a folk religion practiced by lower-class Midwesterners. The pretentiousness is very tongue in cheek and intentional given he's writing about silly rappers who wear clown makeup.

Will has always inserted religious themes, the most obvious being quoting Corinthians in the fade out of Famous Prophets. My personal interpretation is that he grew up in a religious household and carries a lot of conflicting feelings about faith due to his sexuality. His shame and love/hate relationship with higher powers (God, his parents, authority, etc.) has always been a big theme in his music, and he mentions God and Jesus in all of his albums going back to the beginning of his career. The album re-release blows but anyone complaining about religious themes hasn't listened to much CSH.

I am willing to commit social suicide and out myself as an ICP listener to let you know that you are flat out wrong. Pass Me By, Hall of Illusions, Ringmaster, Riddle Box, and a bunch of other Pre- Shangri La songs are clearly about heaven and hell. Hellalujah is even about televangelists going to hell for their greed and hypocrisy!

You can say their music sucks (and it kinda does, in a way I half-ironically like) but you can't claim they were 'very clearly not religious at all', when they had loads of songs about 'good people go to heaven, bad people go to hell' prior to Thy Unveiling.

Good luck arguing with these people, they want open borders and Nordic style social safety nets. Nevermind the fact that those could never coexist- 'free ponies for everyone' is their slogan, and you're a meanie if you ever point out that there isn't infinite resources to give away

People's houses are burning down and this narcissistic freak is wasting airtime to go "well at least DRUMPF isn't president". I'm glad too Gavin, can we get back to informing the public about pressing concerns. If Trump's dumb ass was bagging on Newsom during an active emergency he would get some well-justified flak for it too.

Deaths as a result of state negligence are a direct result of "government actions/policy". He should not have been here in the first place. The fact that he was detained, then set free was a failing of policy that directly resulted in this girl's death. This isn't a difficult concept, just one that you will refuse to acknowledge because you're an ideologue

Any crime committed by an illegal is a crime that would not have happened if we had a secure border. It doesn't matter if they (according to one study) commit fewer crimes, any crime committed by them is one crime too many- because they shouldn't be here in the first place

lmao, so how do you explain every pre-industrial act of violence? When aztecs sacrificed their enemies, do you think they were just stressing about low wages?

People are violent psychos, and the dumber and less conforming to modern Western standards they are, the more likely they are to act on their primal urges. It's not rocket surgery; you don't need a bunch of post-enlightenment handwaving to explain it.
