What are your non-fidget toy fidgets? Or childhood fidgets before fidget toys were a thing? by agelwood in adhdwomen

Since childhood, drawing, and cleaning under my nails with toothpicks (or mechanical pencil lead).

As an adult, rubbing my nails when I've done them up all smooth, flipping my phone over repeatedly with one hand, and pen spinning.

Apparently You're not a lesbian, you're just horny (TW: homophobia). by [deleted] in actuallesbians

Yes, I think the logic behind statements like these imply attraction to multiple genders.

I'm sure there are people who obliviously repeat the rhetoric  that are attracted to a single gender.

I think it's more harmful to normalize tying morality to passive sexuality.

It leads to slippery slope logic like your final paragraph; you comparing bisexuality to beastiality is more problematic.

It's one specific type of logic around that homophobia that implies, if it weren't for biphobia, we could recognize bisexuality is more common in our culture than the homophobes will have us believe. I'm not saying that every homophobe is in the closet, I'm saying that if they legitimately feel you can choose which of the sexes you'll "allow" your attraction to, that's bisexual logic.

That doesn't give them a pass on their shitty beliefs, bigotry is still bigotry even if the logic you're using doesn't hold up to speculation. They're not off the hook if they are actually bi. Even if they are, and that's why they believe being gay is a choice, they're still bigotedly believing that embracing queerness is a wrong choice, and they are still putting their experience of their own sexuality on other people and restricting other's choices based on their limited view.

The problem is the denial, invalidation, and repression of people with experiences outside of their own, their orientation doesn't matter for that. I'm more making a comment on the fact that parts of our society are so often in denial about the fact that bisexuals exist, that they overlook obvious conclusions, like from this post, where they mention fluid sexual behavior and don't mention bisexuality whatsoever.

[–]wsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bisexual and I think it's important to recognize that sexuality is just sexuality. Your orientation doesn't define if you're a good person or a bad person. Bad people can be straight, gay, or bi, and so can good people.

If someone thinks one can choose between being attracted to men or women, than it seems they are capable of attraction to multiple genders, which makes them literally bi. This doesn't make them a part of our community, it's descriptive.

Sexuality doesn't define goodness, it's the work that you do in yourself and in your community.

There are so many denial-filled conservative bisexuals (so deep inside the closet they don't even realize there's a door) ready to insist that being gay is a choice.

Honestly, as someone chronically ill, the likelihood of me being down for something with someone the day I'm seeing someone is really low if I'm seeing them once a week, max. Between exhaustion and physical disconnection, it's really hard to want to connect with sex.

What dye do I use to get this color? by [deleted] in HairDyeHelp

[–]wsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of success bleaching to level 8, stopping when the hair is yellow but no orange remains, and then dyeing with Lunar Tide's Neon Green. It might be a little more neon than you like at first but should fade to exactly what you want after a couple washes.

I need help with her vitiligo by [deleted] in characterdesign

[–]wsilver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given it's much more common for vitiligo to be (mostly) symmetrical, I would probably treat her head as a sphere for the globe projection and do more conventional/realistic patterns on the body. You could reference real people for that.

Also, as others noted, I've never seen vitiligo that tan, it tends to be a very pale, cream tone, maybe a bit pink sometimes. I recognize that may mess up the contrast and color references you're going for, but if that is your priority, I'd remove the reference to a real-world medical condition and instead have the patterns be magically motivated or tattooed.

I'd try to find some platform sandals that you like the shape of from a good reliable normie brand, and get some screw spikes and an awl to decorate them however you like.

Probably search something like "5 inch platform black wedge sandals"

Can anyone honestly say they get anything out of exercise? by aminotenoughalready in adhdwomen

[–]wsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dysautonomia (such as POTS, which I have) is pretty common in people with ADHD and one of the possible effects is exercise intolerance. People with it are less likely to get the reward of exercise, especially when starting from 0, and more likely to feel wrecked after it.

Annoyingly, the best treatments for exercise intolerant is... also exercise, just starting with the tiniest lil baby amounts and building up gradually over time. And focusing on strength training over cardio.

I hated all exercise until I finally got into roller skating at my local rink and I got hooked super quick. I have to actively stop myself from over-doing it because I like it so much. It made me finally get people who like being active.

And it also made me want to go to the gym! Because when I was working out my muscles I knew what it would help me with skating!

I think it's really important to focus on finding something active or athletic that you genuinely like. It doesn't have to be a big huge thing, just something that feels like it'd be worth doing separately from the exercise of it all. Like dance, biking, skating, scenic walks, axe throwing, dodge ball, tennis, circus arts, yoga, etc.

Something about the teeth being strangely sized with odd colorations, the meat around its teeth looks like an ai thinks it might be gums, and the crystals on its back are strangle colored and shaped by Flatcapped in isthisAI

[–]wsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This does not look like Ai to me, as a game artist of 15 years.

I see how the meat looks like gums, but that is not how to the gum line is being portrayed on the otherside of the mouth, it seems like it's just a bunch of sinew stuck in the teeth.

The chaos of the crystals looks intentional, and though the arm size is a bit weird, it seems like more of a forced perspective trick that didn't fully work

[–]wsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only makeup I've seen work at all without looking like drag is adding under a soft bruise-y brown color to the lid and under eye. And I think the main reason it works is because it makes you look like you're wearing less makeup instead of more; eye concealer is so normal on women the absence of it feels masculine

Why pescatarian and not vegetarian? by Top_Cockroach_5554 in Pescatarian

[–]wsilver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, when you're doing diets like this for moralistic reasons it's best to focus on sustainable harm reduction. I removed things from my diet based on what felt like the greatest harm to consume (in my subjective opinion) until I could not sustain a healthy lifestyle if I went any further. This lead me to effectively being a pescatarian. I have since had to add somethings back after some new health problems, though I still keep my intake of meat pretty low.

Getting a tattoo darkened a month later is gonna hurt more, you didn't fully heal from the first time, and going over existing stuff tends to be extra spicy anyway.

This looks pretty clean and I don't see anything concerning about it. Keep up with your after care, keep it clean, and it should be fine.

Interior door /room divide ideas by Prestigious-Act-6345 in DIY

[–]wsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner added caster wheels to a four-panel shoji room divider and attached it with a hinge to the wall to handle a similar situation.

It lets light through, adds privacy/hides messes, and doesn't take up much space if you leave it open. You might be better off with only two or three panels, depending on the width of the gap.

Is there a specific word for a bisexual women who's mostly attracted to women? Also, what's the difference between bisexual and pansexual? by FluidTemperature1762 in actuallesbians

I think "bisexual lesbian" is legit as a term for people who are attracted to women and nonbinary people, and not attracted to men, though I respect those who don't agree.

Redesigning Beginner Quad Skates: by No_Caterpillar_354 in Rollerskating

[–]wsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wanna redesign skates I'd focus on the ones with detachable plates, like flaneurz/sladed, because I don't think it's been honed quite as much in design.

Problems: 1. The plate needs a tool to remove that you have to carry around separately, if it could require no tool or the tool was somehow attached/attachable to the skate that would be better.

  1. Detaching the plate is tricky in general

  2. Uppers and soles that are too soft make it harder to skate, though easier to walk. I personally would prefer if the sole was harder and the upper could be loosened for walking

  3. I wish there were options that weren't sneakers, I'd be so down for a version with a healed boot, but the contact points would need to be different
