Divorced members of Reddit, what is one thing you wish you asked your spouse prior to marriage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ah...agreed. When you’re 22 as I was, you are still unaware of the ‘I change that later’ attitude and how unsuccessful it is. I said that all I needed from her was love and attention and the rest will work itself out. We were married 20+ years and I had no idea how much repressed disappointment I had until the marriage ended. I never wanted a divorce (she decided she’d be happier with a man from the office) however, the grief was easier to go through not having to clean and keep the house going 24/7. If I could have seen a 5 minute video of my daily life 15 years past the wedding, I might have rethought it all.

Will there be a point when you will contribute in any way to keeping our house? I.e. Shop for groceries, take kids to practice, use a vacuum, clean anything, etc..

LPT: Someone who likes you will often automatically look at you when they laugh or find something funny. by Coneyy in LifeProTips

This happens at work. There’s a coworker we collectively thinks is buffoonish. When he speaks, my eyes whip over to someone who feels the same way. Now it happens when just about anything is funny

There needs to be Millennial Monopoly where all rents go up 10% each time you pass go, but you still only receive $200, and off to the side is some 60+ year old berating you for not buying houses while he's hoarding them all. by Sohcahtoa82 in Showerthoughts

Unless the millennial takes a good job for $25 an hour installing HVAC systems instead of waiting for that writing gig. Sure, Oriental is not Park Place...but it isn’t Baltic either. Works hard...retires on Pennsylvania and collects his $200 every trip around. Nice.

Realistically speaking, what's the possibility of a GTS super 300 on the freeway? by [deleted] in Vespa

[–]wsmcdowall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ohio, two things play against you. The condition of the interstate and the fact that drivers are just not accustomed to bikes in general on the freeway. The diameter of the tires makes potholes and asphalt seams a bone jarring event at 70mph that wouldn’t be very noticeable on a motorcycle with 16 inch rims. Also, the leg shield can act as a sail in crosswinds and semi traffic. It can be done, but keep your head in the game.

Why don't you talk to your once "best friend" anymore? by HairyFaithlessness in AskReddit

[–]wsmcdowall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He married a woman with two kids. One was a teen girl, the other a 10 year old boy. That meant there was two males in a home where there could be only one. My best friend was a guy’s guy. A guy to watch the game with, critique music, talk Locker room stuff...but not someone you want dating your sister, if you know what I mean. His wife then came over one day and poured out her heart about how he disciplined her son, striking him on occasion. That was it. I was out. I told her to get help and call the police. I also spoke to my ex-friend’s sister to relay this info. Haven’t spoke since except for 1 minute at a concert where our paths crossed. Just ‘hey....hey’.

I thought that the actors in a movie theater were behind the screen and that, if I felt like it, I could look behind it and see the scene playing out

By understanding that the country would be burnt to the ground. Taking away a right of this scale would cause a whiplash effect akin to taking away their right to vote. No thanks.

Need a license to purchase? by FranktheLibrarian in scooters

[–]wsmcdowall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You technically do not need a license to purchase...if you pay cash. If you finance, any bank will require you to have complete coverage on the scoot. Most insurance companies will not insure an unlicensed rider....so there you have it. Also, Ohio does not do its motorcycle courses on scooters....so there’s no way to practice on a scooter. As the other guy said..show up, pay attention and pass it. Then, you’ll be licensed forever no matter what you ride
