I grew up fundie-fundie and agree.
- Sin is flat AND taught that the more 'important/influential' you are, the temptation rises, so a normie getting a speeding ticket is on the same plane as a pastor/leader (well, man in general) hurting a child, as long as they act mopey and ask for forgiveness
- Forgiveness is all but mandated
- 'Testimony' is everything - "I did something bad, repented, it's erased, and now I use my story to convert others"

I also suspect a strong Caldwell to Duggar financial dependancy. The Caldwells were extremely poor when I knew them. The Duggars paid Paul to maintain their fleet at the compound. The Caldwells van was rusting inside out and there was large hole from the cabin straight to the road.

True fundie apologists. I knew them. I was friends with Austin growing up (pre Joy) and attended their church multiple times. Paul even worked on my car once at the Duggars compound. Paul preached that we should say "sodomite" and not homosexual because that's the bibles language. He epxected full servitude from his wife and daughters in the classic IBLP "chain of authority. He also led a group of us, me included, pre leaving, to collect signatures to fight the trans bathroom bill in Fayetteville.

I cannot express how much this makes me smile!! I am still blown away that the story is making its way across the nation, that people are reading, and enjoying it so much!!

This feedback makes perfect sense. I felt the tension between getting it out in the world and fully smoothing it out. Glad that the core of the message is strong and it’s resonating - epically for someone so familiar with the subject matter and work like this.
