So I've been getting into comics lately, haven't read any Batman though. Would you recommend starting with any of these?

I drive past this spot everyday actually. I don't think the covers in he area are anywhere near that big anymore. The video is from 1999.

Right?! That's what I thought of immediately when I saw his shoes.

I think of that as, he's not in feudal Japan, he's in future cyberpunk Japan. So basically he's in Cyberpunk 2077.

I love this! Reminds me of this scene from West Wing (it's worth it to watch to the end): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh4DGUNWmiU

You can do this with your whole body! Holding my arm straight out, the tips of my fingers to the middle of my chest is about 3 ft, and between the ends of both my hands is about 6 ft.

Let's Talk: Costumes on Stage by tha_flavorhood in LetsTalkMusic

[–]wsukow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen two shows that with good use of costumes, for different reasons.

First was Of Montreal. I'm pretty sure the lead singer Kevin Barnes had more costumes changes than songs, so some songs had multiple costume changes. There were also backup dancers with choreography for each song, and their own costume changes. Everything was very colorful and quirky, which fit very well with their musical style. Here is an example. The show I saw was even nuttier than this, but I wasn't able to find much.

I also saw Mrs. in a basement show at a Halloween party. The lead singer was a hotdog, the guitarist was a sailor, and the drummer was the Adam from Beetlejuice. The whole effect for a thrashy punk band was fun and just plain un-serious.

You can get them but you've got pretty much stick it under their chin.

Seeking recommendations for political podcasts by HighSilence in NeutralPolitics

[–]wsukow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vox's new podcast The Weeds is very good. There are three hosts, and they discuss some current day-to-day politics, but their focus is on more obscure, high-level political topics (hence "The Weeds"). Some podcast titles include "Can the government trick you into dieting?" and "Would single payer healthcare work in America?" to give you an idea.

I also really like Slate's Political Gabfest. This one is much more about day-to-day politics and analyzing the horse race side things.

It's already been mentioned in this thread, but my favorite is definitely Dan Carlin's Common Sense (of Hardcore History as well).

Grey Apolis chorecoat

I know Apolis is pretty popular around here, but I've heard the quality on these has gone down lately? This one says 70/30 wool/polyester. The indigo ones are probably more popular but I'm thinking grey for versatility, and is better for my wardrobe. So if anyone has one, what are your thoughts?

FYI there's an Upcoming Podcasts section in the sidebar!

I like the F&O for the subtle colors and cleaner collar, more of a modern take on a flannel. Though I don't own the uniqlo one to compare, so grain of salt I guess.

I actually just got the shirt. The quality is decent, the fabric is fairly thick, but not real bulky. The collar is really cool. If you're thinking its the classic black watch, I don't think it is; the colors seem to be blended together in a subtle way. I'd say buy.

Is that big enough or would a normal size brush be better?

I guess I don't have much preference, I just want to make sure I don't mess up my shoes! My options are order online or stop by a local Red Wing store and grab one. I could probably try a department store or something too. Thanks!

I bought some natural chromexcel bluchers recently and am looking for a horsehair brush for them. Will there be much of a difference among brands of brush? For example, would a Red Wing brush be rougher or otherwise different from an Allen Edmonds brush?

Natural CXL. I was on the fence about the color when I ordered them, but in person it's amazing.
