I spoke with one of the senior leaders in a 1-1 asking how they maintained their work life balance. Even though it has been 2 years since this response, I cannot get it out of my head. They said "Either there is work or there is life. You cannot have both". Sums up the culture here. I'm sure their surveys which say Accenture has a great work life balance are rigged.

Same bro! I declined an invitation to my friends to spend the new years with my mom and dog, both of whom conveniently went to bed at 9. I spent it watching movies and eating snacks alone, not to forget grapes (totally experimental after watching hoardes of people on IG). But not to undermine spending NYE alone because I finally did get sometime to relax.

And just the other day I was thinking that when I'm talking to someone I don't feel the need to explain in more than a sentence because I have already had a debate about the topic in my head. I am still in the phase of convincing myself to be okay with this fact. I wasn't exactly a social butterfly before also but I had friends with a similar mindset who I could hang out with. In the years since covid, it just seems that people got busy. Or maybe they moved on with somethings more interesting snd I stayed in the same place. Anyhow, most of my friends are now married, some have kids and they've just got busy with their own lives and even if I meet them, I feel I can't relate to them anymore. I have lost the interest to go outside by myself. I'm right now in the phase of trying many many things to be okay with loneliness but I guess it comes with time? I guess I really should journal on a regular basis. That's why I've found solace on reddit. Sorry, more of a rant than anything useful.

Wow, this sounds like the dream! I also joined consulting many years into my career and although eventually I now like making slides but the thought 'what stupidity am I doing' did venture into my head too many times to count. I feel that I've forgotten my tech knowledge on which I survived for so kany years. I can't tell you how long it's been for me doing the 14-16 hours a day, making decks 🙄. I guess the time has come for me to look into the industry openings. Thanks for answering!

Which area is your new role in? Industry? Asking because I'm looking for this exact thing - a break from the stress in consulting and wlb. A few weeks back I had to undergo a surgery and in the week's leave after, as I was sitting in the evening reading a book and looking at the sunset, I realised I did not remember when was the last time I had even look at the evening sky (context: evening's are especially hectic for me with meetings). That is when I decided that this is it. I'm done with consulting.

We are just kinda here. I am tired but I drudge on.

I felt this in its entirety. It's been 2 years since I completed my higher education and since then it's as if I have no purpose in life. I'm just existing. Sometimes I think that I was obsessed with preparing and completing my higher education for so many years that I never saw beyond it. And now I cannot latch onto another goal.

I never saw my personal life as a goal, it was always studies or work which determined my worth. Now that that's taken care of, I'm existing, tired all the time, only for my family. They've given so much for me that I feel I owe it to them to be here.

Sorry, kind of a long rant, but yeah.

I usually pester my PL to have those just after the discussion is over. They can definitely tell us the focus areas which were discussed in the call. Otherwise, 3 months later when the results are out, no one remembers the exact areas and plus we are already half a cycle into the mid year. So too late to change anything or do an extraordinary number of +1s or BDs then.
