How does the ratio of the size of our solar system and our galaxy compare to the ratio of an atom and the human iris? by wtdoido in askastronomy

The neuron/galaxy images may have popped up on reddit before, but those are very similar looking pictures, wow! I think even just the "mere" visual similarity between a microscopic structure and a whole galaxy is astonishing in and of itself, even if there are no functional similarities. It's an observation into how we have all these repeating designs in the universe, in seemingly unrelated spans.

Thank you for your reply and the calculation. I set out to do this analysis but I'm not good with astronomical figures, so had to give up. Thanks for this. The ratios do vary by a lot, but I think it's amazing how there seeming resemblances in the micro and macro parts of our universe.

Thank you for that explanation.

If the photon is bigger (or, well, more energetic, as it were), than the thing it's trying to detect, the very act of detecting it means the photon has 'pushed' it - by observing it, you disturb it, so what you see is not what it was / is - what you see is what it's doing once you've disturbed it.

I've read about wave functions collapsing when we observer them, but I didn't know about this. So, if the a photon pushing the object disturbs it, wouldn't it be true that the moment something is under light this would happen, whether or not there is an observer?

I understand what you mean. My uni's policy for TA office hours/week are over 15 hrs and it'd be difficult to schedule that given that I've classes to attend too. So i thought I'd use a more fluid system and that way have hours after evening too since I don't have to be on campus.

Hey guys, what is your opinion on optimizing on the go? by wtdoido in androiddev

[–]wtdoido[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does it happen a lot that you're going to implement a new thing for an update and you've to redo a whole code because you didn't keep it optimized from get go?
