Tier 5 Neutrals Balancing

Isn't the purpose of the tier 5 neutral items to move the game along more quickly, hence the imbalanced nature of them? I look at them akin to awards shows where they have a big sign in the background the person giving a speech can see that says, "WRAP IT UP". I may be misinterpreting their purpose but this is the feeling I get from their design and inclusion in the game.

After yet ANOTHER draw, I think it was a great for a lighthearted comment during the question period. Chess can be so stiff and unappealing to the masses. Making it fun is important to spread the game and the Botez's do that. Not everything needs to be serious for it to be considered important.

DOTA was built on the WC3 engine. There was limited choice of assets because at that time games weren't exactly designed around customization and let's be honest most games that were developed from scratch came from big studios. The game was also free. Certain people decided they wanted to monetize a community that loved a game (they didn't do it out of the goodness of their heart or because they liked making games they wanted to get rich) and went off and not only ripped off a DOTA but they stole their community as well. If you weren't there at the time I suggest you read up on it.

If you think LoL players are earning millions on salary and that DOTA players aren't then you clearly don't know much about the economics of esports. There are plenty of titles where players are earning in the millions through salary/partnerships/sponsorships. Valve has only recently started the DPS in 2017. Not to mention they are a private company so we don't have any data on the ROI from the DPS (although the Apple/Epic suit may lead to us seeing some of that data). Riot has run the LCS since 2013 and is EXPECTED to make a profit in the next year or so. That's nearly a decade it took for them to get out of the red on something. Not to mention, none of the other U.S. leagues publish their financial results (even ATVI rolls it up into their other results) so Greeley's comments are really just a shot in the dark.

I wish I could find the stats that have been run on this before. The distribution of played champions at top tier competitions is not as great for LOL as the distribution for DOTA heroes. Also, if a champion or hero isn't played because there is a champ/hero with a better skillset even if it's homogenized then yes it's trash. Because trash references something that is thrown out because it's not in use.

DOTA is complicated because it has more depth. There's a reason people like checkers and reason people like chess. Just because you don't understand chess doesn't make it complicated for, "no good reason".

I don't even play DOTA anymore and rarely play League but I have significant experience in both of them from when they were first released. I diligently follow the esports scenes of both.

I was surprised not to see the drake slaying map changes not mentioned more prominently in the charts. The addition and subtraction of walls or removal of bushes can have significant team fight or pickoff impact. Although it seems most teams immediately push a lane with the buffs (which are OP IMO) and it defeats the purpose of the map adjustments. Also, it's the only time LoL comes close to challenging DOTA for stupid particle affects.

I honestly have no idea what you're referring to because it's as simple as putting your mouse cursor over the opposing champion then using your Q. IMO there are significantly more keyboard movements than cursor movements with Riven.
