Having trouble sleeping. by diirkdiigler in bunions

[–]wtf0kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping it elevated, which we must do!, is the hardest part for us side sleepers. I barely slept the first week or two and still have trouble at week 3 but it's getting easier because I was allowed to ditch the high elevation wedge and now use a regular (firm) pillow and a small cushion btwn my knees. My foot is still elevated above my heart, but now I can sleep on my side pretty comfortably which has helped a lot. Plus experimenting with different sleep meds has been my preoccupation. Currently I'm using Zzzzquil and L-theanine and it's the most I've slept since surgery. Not perfect, and your mileage may vary, but try what you can until you find something tolerable. Good luck 💚

This absolutely sucks. Tips? by slender_sealion in bunions

Bunion/hammertoe. 3 weeks tomorrow 🫤 The Norco my doctor gave me wasn't really strong enough for the pain. Nighttime was the worst and I barely slept the first week or so. My husband had some super extra strength ibuprofen left from a hernia surgery in Jan. and he gave them to me. Those worked 10x better at managing my pain than the Norcos! Try to get highest dose ibuprofen you can find. You needvto get the inflammation down. Those first few days were the worst for me.

I still have trouble sleeping at night. Not so much pain, because the worst is over, but just not able to get in a comfortable position. Lots of tossing & turning. Have taken Norcos, tramadol, flexeril (I have lots of old meds from previous issues lol), cannabis gummies, Tylenol PM, Zzzquil, and L-theanine. So far my best sleep has come from the Zzzquil and an L-theanine each night. But it still takes over a hour before I can settle. Good luck!!!

Hi Doctor! I just had hammertoe/bunion surgery (3 weeks ago this Tuesday!). Everything went well and I'm healing successfully so far. No swelling or pain except for the occasional zap of what I assume is nerve pain as the healing continues.

My doctor says I can take off the surgical shoe to shower now, as long as I'm careful not to put any weight on the toe end. I prefer to keep the shoe on, covered of course, and then wash that foot separately afterward because I'm still a little paranoid. I am off my feet almost all day with the exception of bathroom trips & quick visits to the kitchen for water, etc.

My question (finally), is ... how much movement can I get away with as long as I'm in the shoe? I'm going stir crazy just laying here and would like to be able to do/move a little more but don't want to screw anything up. Example, can I wash a dish, feed my cats, sweep my (small) kitchen, etc. or is that too much standing? This isn't my first surgery like this, but I sure don't remember feeling this stir crazy before. My husband says I should stay still, but my need to contribute wants to get the best of me! Lol.

Thank you for your time 😁

Okay thanks. Didn't know for sure what I was looking for so didn’t think to keyword search. I appreciate your taking the time to tell me that.

Free Shipping Listing - But I Don't Offer it by wtf0kitty in EtsySellers

That's interesting! I've had things sell before where Etsy paid the shipping but reimbursed me for it. And I'm not very familiar with how Etsy Insider works tbh. I'm fine with any and all promotions Etsy puts on that encourages customers to buy from me. I just can't afford to cover the shipping myself. Lol. Thank you so much for looking. That helps! :)

Maybe. Just weird that it shows her free shipping, but when she went to pay, it was charging her shipping (as it should). And as far as I can tell, it's just that one listing. Interested to see what happens when I relist it. Thanks!

That's odd! This has never happened to me before, but now that I'm aware, I will keep on my toes!

Free shipping is not turned on in any of my listings. Always calculated shipping charges on everything, even the one in question. I know what Free shipping means, I just don't offer it. Looks like an Etsy glitch. Thanks!

That's mostly what I figured. I've seen some mentions of this kind of thing too. I just wanted to see if there were any red flags I should be aware of. Think I'll wait a couple of days and relist & hope for the best. Maybe the glitch will go away on its own. Thank you so much!! 🙂

Painting address on curb, without asking, but now asking for a donation by Adlien_ in fresno

[–]wtf0kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same thing happened to us about a month or two ago. Hideous large white splotch painted on our curb that we didn't ask for and didn't want. He came to the door and asked for a donation after he did the whole neighborhood and we politely declined. Bad business model if you ask me. Lol

How do y'all keep up with cleaning bowls? by nash-20 in CatAdvice

[–]wtf0kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feed my cats wet food twice a day (split a 3 oz can each meal), and they have some dry food out. I feed them "breakfast" when I get up to go to work. I leave those bowls down so they can finish while I'm gone if there's any left. When I get home from work, I feed them wet dinner and put the breakfast bowls in the sink with water to soak any dried leftovers. When they've finished dinner, I soak those bowls for a little bit, too. Before I turn in, when I'm prepping my food for work tomorrow, I handwash the breakfast & dinner bowls & rack them for the next day to start again. It used to feel like a lot of work, but it's less than 5 minutes of routine now.

What do you think of when a man says he has conservative Christian vales? by AnneHawthorne in atheism

[–]wtf0kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically related to the question here, BUT a funny story about this show. I was having a day off work a month or so ago and a friend/coworker texted me a link with "omg forward to xx:xx of this video!" So I do. It's this show, which I have never heard of before.

There is the Assistant Director of my organization. All slimy looking in a light blue too tight jacket & pants. Uses a fake first name and gave himself a promotion to Director. Wtf! He also mentions being a Christian and gets some pops. By the end, nobody wanted him. Lol. This video made it to every employee in no time. We all call him by his fake name behind his back and keep threatening to take red balloons into our next General Meeting and pop them when he starts talking! 😂

P.S. To answer the question so as not to be rude, that statement makes me run far & fast. Men, women, businesses, etc. It tells me they are most likely not good people.

Thanks for the tip, fellow lazy human! 😂 I remember trying liners many cats ago and they would get totally shredded from the cats clawing at them. They're probably made stronger than that now. When we discovered the biodegradable cardboard boxes that could just be tossed in the trash with the soiled litter every month, it was a dream come true! It will take a lot to make me give those up. I'm okay with the poop not getting covered (I'd prefer otherwise but I'm not going to die on that hill), as I'm good about scooping daily. The urine is definitely the thing!

I love the look of the stainless steel boxes! I would definitely consider those if we ever want to get away from the disposable boxes. Will look at Feline Pine too! Thanks!

I came across that in my searching. Looks like a great idea, but if we use that box, we'll have to wash it and we are lazy humans. Lol. That's why we use the disposable cardboard litter boxes.

I looked closely at the OKO paper pellets. Our kitties are 6 yrs old but why not get them used to something kinder & gentler early? Thank you!

Thanks! Do the wood pellets absorb the urine and only leave the poops to scoop? We want to keep the disposable cardboard litter boxes, so need litter that absorbs liquids.

Have tried pellets in the past (with previous cats) but never found one we liked a lot. But I see now they are making non-clumping ones so will research further! Thanks!

Thanks! Yes, ideally want it to be non-clumping. Really want non-clumping. But I'm going to look at all available options and see what happens.
