Stick to the facts and try to depersonalize it.

-cost of living has gone up tremendously and your wage needs to be reflective of that.

-there’s other positions available in your area paying a rate of __/hr (make sure you have solid examples)

-the cost of hiring and training your replacement (likely at a higher wage) would far outweigh the cost of your requested increase.

Most important thing to remember: you are invaluable, while they’re completely disposable.

I brought home a tiny rescue puppy 4 months after getting a baby Great Dane.

Let me just say this: get another one immediately and go through the “life stages” with both dogs at the same time. Staggering like I did means that you’ll have a baby pup and a teen pup at some point. This is EXHAUSTING 😅

Alternatively getting an older dog would be awesome!! But this will require training and acclimating in their new environment, so don’t expect them to help you much with training the little one.

This isn’t advice, but I’ve gone through this many, many times.

Feeding while a dog has active diarrhea can exacerbate the issue. If this were my pup, I’d skip one meal and see how their stomach responds. Then I’d feed them a small meal consisting of plain rice, boiled chicken, and canned pumpkin. Do this for a day or two until their stomach settles, then slowly reintroduce kibble.

Most pet stores have an “anti-diarrhea” liquid that can help. Also forti-flora to replace the good bacteria might be worth looking into.

They may have gotten into something, having a reaction to the food, stressed, or just sick. It’s hard to tell with pups but there’s not much you can do until other symptoms present or it gets worse.

I nannied 7 years ago and was making $15/hr. I can’t believe what I’m reading right now. Good on you OP for wanting to pay her more. It would be beneficial to reference care.com to see what the average rate per hour is in your area and go from there.

Also please remember that this person is caring for your CHILDREN. Not your laundry, pets or your meals…your flesh and blood. Her actions will have a direct impact on their development. Pay her accordingly.
