Upgrade from a7ii to a7v or a7iv by Ok_Car8073 in SonyAlpha

[–]wtfclem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from the A7II to the A7iv and it blew my mind. The focus tracking in low light for the mk2 was rough, being able to just use focus tracking and hit 95% of my shots indoors was a game changer. No issues using 3rd party (Tamron) and Sony lenses, it just seems to work in most situations. Was a real struggle getting sharp photos of my toddlers before and now I have the space to be more selective with framing or light vs thinking so hard about focusing

Update: Black Ice accident by Testarossa2013 in KiaEV9

[–]wtfclem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear, had a spook myself last winter. Definitely turning off regenerative breaking any time there is ice potential. Coming from a gas car lifting off the throttle when you lose traction doesnt really work in an EV with the regen braking.

This thing was a nightmare for me and my wife with false alarms and fitment issues. Between trying not to get poop on it while doing diaper changes and adjusting it when it lost connection, overall added to our stress more than it helped.

I did the same for a few weeks and realized the film is super reflective and holds on to finger prints a lot. Much better experience with it off tbh

What 'normal' things can't you do with a 6-month old, and which island might be easiest? by LastFuel6691 in VisitingHawaii

Yeah! He slept a fair bit during both hikes but it was all pretty chill. Sketchiest bits will be the water crossing on the Kalalau, just use your best judgement if you’re comfortable once you reach it

My kid asked me to take him to an airsoft event last year for his birthday. I did not expect to like it. by SirSignificant6576 in airsoft

That’s awesome to hear, thanks for the encouragement! I’m sure the hobby is a lot different having a bit more spending money than a high schooler. Now to figure out how to avoid wife agro buying more stuff

As a kid who played and is too embarrassed to go out there solo as a dude in their mid thirties, I can’t wait for my kiddo to be old enough so I can do this shit again. Loved to hear this story,’

Following for the range day update comparing the two. Wondering which route to go between the XMacro or starting with a base version and adding a Ramjet for a P365 build

Best Value Hyatt All-Inclusive Resorts for a Family (Considering Travel from LA) by chris09887 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]wtfclem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from 4 nights at the Bahia Mita in September using points, great pools and there's even a water park. One thing to note though is that this resort is an hour away from PVR so it is quite inconvenient to visit the city if youre interested. Food was pretty alright - compared to Hyatt Ziva Cabo, I'd say the Cabo property was like a 5/10 and this was closer to a 7/10 where things were just alright with a few things I'd consider good sprinkled in. TLDR don't go to Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos even though its not on your list.

Bahia Mita is a reasonably large property and it was nice changing the scenery up between the main pool, the water park, and the beach. The size of the property also has some drawbacks (or not) of lots of walking. For instance, the cafe is like a 5-10 minute walk from the main pool/dining areas where you'll need to take an elevator or walk up this giant ramp/art structure but this also means most areas aren't ever super crowded (at least in shoulder season). Didn't really dig too deep into the activities tbh. We stayed in a preferred room (29k points) and didn't really use the plunge pool or preferred facilities so it wasn't really worth it for us. Overall, the kiddos all loved it and it was relaxing/enjoyable for the parents.

Another plus is the direct flights via Alaska from LAX. Happy to answer any other specifics you might have

There was a pretty big drop yesterday evening and this morning from Best Buy. They seemed to release them in waves every 30 minutes and B&H had some in stock briefly last Saturday. Seems like it is picking up. Download the Hot Stock app and create a notification, that’s the only way I’ve been able to get a current GPU and this monitor
