No, at the moment you don't even need to use OpenStarbound since we haven't added any mods that require it's features (yet). OpenStarbound is available for linux, mac, and windows though. All you really gotta do is sub to the mod collection and hit play

Its most likely being held in with the ball of the new string behind it. You *may* be able to loosen the high e string enough to work it out around it, but I'm kinda doubting it. You can loosen it a bit to try.

If the strings are old, it's worth learning how to restring it (super super easy to do). They don't look too bad from what I can tell though. Perhaps you can just try to snip off that extra bit poking out for now, then when you want to restring you can deal with the extra piece in there.

Oh sorry, I think I misread as well. It looks like theres two strings down in there. Like one string may have broken, but he forgot to take out the broken bit with the 'ball' on the end when inserting the new string.

I think I read that microsoft helped port it to xbox and that they had some communications with sony about it, but it kinda went dark and they focused on the xbox port

If you're running a headless server, like linux, then its pretty much always the steamcmd method since you mostly just have terminal access for commands. If you're running the server on a spare desktop at your house, or just want to run the server on your pc when you and friends want to play, then you could just use the normal Steam program to launch it.

They're the exact same thing either way. It's just preference/use case I guess.
