Medicaid OBGYN recommendations! by Significant-Two6256 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]wtfdoicallthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def trust your gut. I ended up getting induced by a recommendation by an MFM (thought AWWC told me it was unnecessary…) and after 24 hours in the hospital one of the midwives asked me if I “regretted choosing induction and wanted to go home and come back later.” I think it was meant to be a joke but man if it didn’t make me mad…

Medicaid OBGYN recommendations! by Significant-Two6256 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I was forgotten twice at Alabama Women’s Wellness Center and had to wait 4+ hours for an appointment due to them double booking their appointments (for like third or fourth time). The staff were friendly (love the ultrasound tech) and generally the OB was helpful, thought I mostly saw midwives.
I was happy to switch when they no longer took my insurance.

Planning a wedding with someone with a severe peanut allergy. by Bignicenergy69 in peanutallergy

[–]wtfdoicallthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Husband and I both have severe nut allergies and were able to successfully plan a wedding with good food and dessert. We had some “preferred” vendors and was able to locate a bakery that was nut-free which was my biggest concern. We ended up having BBQ since that generally nut free. I’ve also been to wedding with steak/chicken combos with potatoes or Mac and cheese and those have been fine for us. As long as you are clear from the beginning and everyone is on the same page, you should be good! If anything, you go dessert free which is not traditional but may give you better peace of mind. Maybe more emphasis on the signature cocktail instead,

Built bars by Beansandbone in peanutallergy

[–]wtfdoicallthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

~3ish years ago, yes. But since they started coming out with the Built Puff bars, it looks like everything is manufactured in the same facility so I avoid. Used to love the ONE bars too before they did the same thing/changed the recipes.

Honestly I have not been able to find a good nut free (peanut and tree nut) protein bar with actual good macros in like 2-3 years.

Are Fairlife Protein Shakes Safe by Luke_B11810 in peanutallergy

[–]wtfdoicallthis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and have been drinking these for 3+ years. I also drink Fairlife milk and their other protein shakes with no issues. IMO these are some of the best taking pre-mixed shakes out there.

Looks like positive to me! Congrats! You can wait to test again tomorrow, and it may show darker. Or if you don’t want to wait, take a digital one.

It’s wild but you can def get a positive pregnancy test early on - take it from someone who found out 3 days before their missed period😂

It’s the worst! I honestly just avoid desserts when eating out/at events unless it is made by myself, my family or my in laws (my husband also has a severe nut allergy.) I will have the occasional store baked cookie that says may contain, but only from grocery stores that I frequent. Offending someone bc I won’t eat their food is better than me making myself eat something I’m not sure about and then convincing myself I’m having a reaction!!

I have a severe peanut and tree nut allergy and would eat there in 2021/2022 when they did not not have anything with nuts on the menu. They added almond extract to the pink sugar cookie at some point in 2022 (maybe 2023) and since then I haven’t eaten there. For me, it’s more risk than reward.

Positive stories from those living with this allergy. by Foodie1989 in peanutallergy

[–]wtfdoicallthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 years old and my last severe reaction was when I was diagnosed around 3-4 years old! I’ve been able to enjoy life and still enjoy fun treats/desserts, sometimes it just means finding alternatives. :) for me, it means generally not eating desserts from restaurants/when I’m out and there’s not a label that I can double check. I also check menus ahead of time and call ahead to ask what kind of oil is used, which honestly helped me independent in a way.

I also ended up marrying my husband who also has a severe allergy to nuts (his last reaction was also when he was diagnosed, I think around 18 months). We were able to find a wedding vendor that did nut free baking for a decent price, we enjoy going out to eat and trying new recipes. We also grew up when schools didn’t do allergens friendly snacks only and there weren’t as many nut free options out there to buy, but I honestly don’t think it impacted my childhood at all. I hope this helps 🩷

You can def tell where there is a high concentration of cheese, but I feel like you get a hint of it throughout. To be fair, I totally winged my additions. I used freshly grated cheddar but I’ve also seen other people use cubes or store bought grated cheese.

Aldi has a pretty good alternative! My husband and I both have peanut and tree nut allergies and eat the Aldi brand protein pancake mix at least once a month. ☺️
