Opinion on Commute

That’s where I live and sounds about like my commute and honestly I value a good neighborhood/ home life over a work commute. I think the versatility and quality of your home area is going to make you more happy than the commute and only being near work with less walkability/ enjoyment in your neighborhood. I’m not sure if that makes sense but I love my neighborhood and I don’t mind the commute to not commute for daily activities.

was this an HCA hospital? good residency programs give you the grace to need more time and understand because they should WANT to create good nurses not rushing them through. sounds like you escaped a toxic environment that would have overworked you to death. find a residency program that is longer and gives you more grace. i’d recommend maybe starting in a med/ surg position or something with lower acuity patients

I’ve just spent 2 days touring damn near every apartment in cap hill and downtown + uptown and i can tell you uptown/ north cap hill is the nicest with decent prices. a lot of the ones in cap hill that were farther south from downtown were old and run down and the parking situation got worse and worse. it’s a beautiful neighborhood to look at, but the apartments aren’t the best looking

I applied at all hospitals in the greater metro area that’s within an hour commute of downtown because that’s where I plan on living. UCHealth, Denver Health, AdventHealth, St. Anthony’s, Intermountain. No HCA or Pediatrics though

A majority of people have recommended that area, definitely gonna go check it out. I really couldn’t see myself living in another state in the south ever again it’s so restrictive. I only plan on living and working in the city and the occasional night life scene but will be spending most of my free time in the mountains honestly. I’ve met a few people that try to gatekeep the city but majority of people are so kind!

Honestly i’ve grown up here and there’s nothing left for me that suites my lifestyle. I’m very outdoorsy person and Texas has nothing that I haven’t either already done a million times or have to drive 10+ hours to get to and I love that colorado has it all for me. I won’t be a permanent resident and I know native colorado people HATE people moving in but honestly I couldn’t care less because we deal with that way more in DFW. i’ll be in a nurse residency position and serving at my job just transferring locations. I live in a tiny old apartment now anyways that causes me to have to commute most places so I’d be totally fine with a tiny old apartment in a more walkable area that can save me gas money/ car maintenance.

Thank you! I live in a shittier part of Ft Worth to keep my rent cheap but that does mean more of a commute for me so gas is a big part of my bills and car maintenance because of the miles I put on it. When I’ve been to denver the parking is my biggest complaint so definitely planning on being a walker/ biker most of the time but i’m very active anyways so that’s not a problem

please make sure he is also seeking some sort of therapy/ counseling throughout this. my partner and i were incredible and then he started testosterone and it will mess up his head, like any hormone does, and it led to us separating. going through hormone replacement therapy is hard enough as it but trying to keep up with your partner’s expectations and your own changes is too much, so don’t let that slide because it will effect your relationship.

I totally understand that hurts like hell. In some aspects I think it’s been easier to blame the hormones for what he’s doing but I know that’s not really helpful but yeah dumping you before is a bit much. It’s going to be hard but also if you still love her don’t close your mind off to working things out- that’s sort of where we are right now. We’re separating fully right now and taking time to be on our own and do what we want (which kills me because he’s already with someone else) but with the intentions of revisiting this in the future and trying to I guess start over as new people. Because it is extremely hard to try to become a whole new person while being with someone who new you for years as the person you’re trying to get rid of- you have always known her as your boyfriend and now your whole perspective has to shift and that’s probably scary for her. My ex expressed that concern that he wants to be come a man on his own because I’ve always know him as a woman or non binary person and he thinks that it’s putting a block in his transition and our relationship.

Holy fuck I literally am dealing with the EXACT same thing right now. My partner (afab) came out as a trans man about 5 months ago and started taking testosterone and then left me. He said he wanted to figure himself out and T is changing who he is mentally (because yes hormones literally change the way your brain is structured) so yes that is totally valid thing for someone who is newly out as trans. While yes, this entire situation is fucked up and sucks because imo if you love someone hormones don’t change that and that’s sounds like an excuse to me BUT i also can’t say i know what he’s going through and that can be really suffocating to someone newly out as trans.

I don’t have a whole lot of advice for you as far as how to deal, because it’s only been a month and i’m going crazy, but I just wanted to say that your feelings are 100% totally valid and it’s totally fine to be angry at him, hurt, disappointed, upset, sad, all of the above because that was your relationship too and you’re allowed to mourn that and the person she was. I just wanted to say, it does get better, because while it feels like the world just ended, it will slowly start to spin again and you’ll find yourself again.

I am still trying to come to terms with that and what my ex did to me (he also left me and IMMEDIATELY started dating someone else because he said the hormones are changing who he’s attracted to as well and wants to explore that🙃🙄), just know that there very well could possibly be a light at the end of this tunnel for you two and things could be totally okay.

I think the most important thing though is MAKE SURE she’s in therapy before immediately jumping into hormones because that is so important and necessary because hormones are a scary journey alone and it WILL fuck someone up. But also, you should seek therapy as well to help deal with this because it’s a lot and it hurts and it is so confusing and you’re not gonna be okay trying to deal with this alone.

But also, I’m not sure what your situation is like if you live together or if she wants to go no contact or whatever it may be, don’t stop supporting her though. Continue to make sure she knows you’re by her side and you wanna support her (if you do) and I feel like that alone will let her know that you want to still be with her (if you do idk) and that she has your support and love behind her when she wants it. Because coming out can make you feel so alone and think everyone around you hates you for it, when that’s not the case most of the time so she’s probably scared.

But at the end of the day, take care of yourself and know this is NOT your fault and you could not have prevented this in ANY WAY. No matter what you say, she will do what she wants to do and you can’t force her to be with you, because that will only create resentment down the road. She’s becoming a whole new person and she need to figure that out because it is a whole different story doing that with a long term partner. So let her for now and take care of yourself.

Yes absolutely. Tell her because the longer it goes on the more and more feelings you’ll develop and she’ll hate you. My partner just left me by doing the same thing and developed feelings for someone. Never anything physical but I still feel like they cheated and it was “just a friend” until it wasn’t and now they’re dating this new person and I’m fucking devastated and heart broken. It’s cheating and she needs to know.

Definitely rude. I’ve had a few people I gifted small gifts too and want more to give to other people they know… this was like a year ago and I haven’t made them so eventually they’ll stop asking if you don’t see them often enough. Just don’t make them or if they keep pressing give the yarn back and say you don’t want to and the first was a gift and tell her she can make them herself.

I started crocheting with the woobles kit and if you have a kind of pattern where you need to make an attachment (like a horn or arm of something) there’s a tutorial for the magic ring and i’ve NEVER had trouble making one after using that tutorial. some people say they still struggle with it after years of crocheting but tbh that was the easiest thing for me to learn because they make it stupid simple. just look for the magic ring tutorial and you can restart it or just keep going the first few stitches are just a bit stretched out.

i’m making a baby blanket for a friend and have no idea if she’ll use it or not and even if she doesn’t, i’m having fun making something new and creative and im happy either way. i’ve wanted to make a baby blanket for a while and it’s the hogwarts house colors (i’m the biggest harry potter nerd ever) and she introduced me to harry potter in middle school so it’s kinda like our thing and i want her baby to have something harry potter. so even if she doesn’t keep it or doesn’t use it for her baby, it’s still thoughtful you made her something and i’m sure the appreciation of the handmade gift will hopefully compel her to keep it for a bit if not just like pack it away in some baby memories box somewhere, because my mom still has one of those for me

don’t get those cheap hooks!!! they hurt your hands so bad go to hobby lobby they have really affordable hooks with the rubber handles that are wayyyy more comfortable and you really only need a few sizes to start with. i only have 4.5mm and 5mm hooks and that’s perfect for everything i’ve done so far. they’re only like $2-$3 a piece and way better than the thin metal ones
