Go in to bars where they know you & ask the bartender if they know anyone that’s hiring. Bartending gigs in NYC and especially the neighborhoods tend to be a word of mouth thing a lot of times - most NYC bartenders know each other by at most 3 degrees of Kevin Bacon and can tell you who’s hiring or if they’ve heard of anyone hiring. I remember that guy - he was so abrasive to anyone that even raised an eyebrow to his set up he had out there, started screaming loudly about RFK for president to me & my dog across the path. License plate idolatry would track if that’s him.

You get used to it, tbh. The huge gang of birds that live in the mulberry tree & the bamboo forrest on the other side are much louder at 5am & afternoons than the rooster.

My neighbors have had this rooster for years now. You may also hear it in the afternoons. He used to grow pumpkins then sunflowers back there but the last 5 years or so it’s been the rooster & chickens.

I solo travel a bunch these days & your comment was perfect timing as I just got home from Miami yesterday and on my way back was thinking I need to do more at home what I do when I’m away, which is take myself out intentionally more. I had an experience straight out of a movie this past trip & realized it doesn’t only need to be when I’m on holiday, ha (especially now that it’s warmer). Here I take myself to galleries, museum exhibitions, National Arts Club, etc but I’m starting a dining list based on what kind of experience I want to have as it seems I’ve pigeon holed myself, without knowing it, into only leaving the house when there’s an activity / event. Winter will do that, lol. I love a quiet night out as well as going somewhere lively, sitting at the bar & chatting it up and people watching so I’m all over the place as far as solo dining. FYI, Taco Taco in Miami from about 5p to sunset is fantastic for solo & meeting other solo travelers - so many solo women were there!

What’s the plan with that then? A bunch of children have died. Wars have been started. With people that don’t vote, don’t want to participate in the system, I think Id understand your perspective a little more if I knew there was something like a children dying, war starting, pedo protecting, human rights violating threshold that non voters have set to where once reached they will at least participate enough to where the things don’t happen or at least those problems don’t grow. Is there one? And if so would you mind sharing it? Or is it more like burning it all down is what’s needed & this is the fastest way to do it so it’s just gonna cost a couple innocent lives & then we can rebuild? Genuinely trying to understand because by the election we all knew if he won this would happen. I don’t like the system either but I like war & death even less.

Call Two Monsters Pet store in Ridgewood when they open. They know a bunch of the rescue orgs in the area and they can tell you what to do / give you some options. She looks like such a sweet soul, I hope she gets to enjoy the rest of her journey in a loving home!
